    Arrow/Flash CW Shows

I think we were speculating how the DCU was going to come about in a short period, and one of the ideas was WB focusing more on their TV outlets.

Seems to be the building case.

They couldn't do this with Smallville because of the Siegel litigations.

BUT - it would be awesome if Smallville was Earth 2.

It could work if Warners could find a way to integrate their TV and film productions:

intro Flash in 2013-14 on Green Arrow
Intro Wonder Woman and Aquaman on a Flash series in 2014-15
Re-intro Green Lantern on Green Arrow in 2014-2015
Intro Batman in 2015 in MOS sequel
    Film JLA 2016
    Release JLA 2017

Excellent strategy, mm, but WB would never go for it; it makes way too much sense!

It's a perfect vehicle to introduce some characters without putting out feature films. THe show is already in it's second season and is mildly established. I think the world is ready for a TV-Film cross polination, especially with such revered properties. This is something Disney is already doing with Shield, so it's time for WB to step up and prove they aren't the inccompetant boobs we all believe them to be. The arrow budget will have to be tripled to do this, but it can be done...or not.

I realize this will probably never happen, but I would love Chris Pine as Barry Allen. I think he would make an excellent Flash, especially if they want to integrate him (and Arrow too) into the JL movie. He and Amell are both 32, so I see no problem with it age wise, though I realize some movie stars think TV shows are beneath them.

I liked Pine for GL...then found out he turned down the part.

Which, I get from that script.

The Arrow guys made some very interesting comments during SDCC as to how they're now going to direct him from a vigilante to a superhero and known as Green Arrow.

That stuck with me, because that wasn't the original idea. They got the show made by selling it as Smallville, as in they never have to refer to him as GA. But, now they're going to lead to that, which makes me think WB had some Grand Unified Theory meeting and told them "here's where you're heading". I have a feeling a trade was made, where Flash was sent to TV and Wonder Woman has been pushed back into film.

Wow...this does seem to be a complete turnaround from the "no powers" credo of season one of Arrow. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. Although it does make it seem that DC's mid-stream editorial meddling may be seeping into their TV productions as well!

Arrow is very well cast, so I won't even begin to guess who could play Barry Allen. I will say this: If his dad is ever featured, someone call John Wesley Shipp.

I know I'm going to get laughed at for the suggestion but I could see Justin Temberlake as Flash, Barry or Wally. No way he'd do a TV show, but for a film... I'm not a fan of his music, but he has charisma, has been good in every thing I've seen him in from Saturday Night Live guest appearances to movies like Trouble WitH the Curve, and he does have a fan base that might help support the project. He's slim yet Sinewy as Flash was described in the early issue and he has impressive moves which might be useful in portraying super speed.

The TV Flash was way too bulky in that weird foam suit, although Shipp gave a nice performance.

Looks like the Flash will get to keep his red suit as well. NICE! It's time to start embracing these heroes as heroes and drop the pedestrian look. Here's the article just released this morning...

Dude - it's going to be nearly impossible to beat JWShip's Flash costume. If they blanked out his eyes with white shields, it would have been flawless. Still one of my favorite designs.

They should just do Wally or Bart and push Barry aside. Because they character is not going to be Barry, except in name only. BINO. His personality is going to be that smartassery West/Bart hybrid, as it's the only way to define him against the brooding characters.

Also - I think they jumped on Flash because of Quicksilver. It appears that someone at WB is waking up to the fact that if you let Marvel establish their second-string players to the general population first, it won't matter how much WB argues who was the original. It will simply look like they're ripping Marvel off. Look at Arrow and Hawkeye. It's insane more people know Hawkeye as the superhero bowman over GA.

If I'm right, they better start on Aquaman. Like tomorrow. When Marvel does Namor, it could be huge. Especially if they cast the Rock, who IMO, is the only guy that can sell that attitude and design.

I loved the design of the costume, but I wish they'd forgone the foamy muscles, especially since Shipp was actually built like a super hero, and Flash was never supposed to be overly buff either. They had Keaton-envy for sure when that show was being made.

Pushing Flash may have to do with TWO versions of Quicksilver on the horizon.

I've read Fox has the rights to Sub Mariner as part of the Fantastic Four franchise, but it could be co-rights like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Either way the point about Aquaman and Namor is a good one. The core origin of the two characters is the same - Atlantean mom, human dad, hybrid child destined to rule Atlantis - and whichever one hits first makes the other derivative, even pointless. The powers that be at WB outside of DC are probably unaware of Namor.

An Aquaman film could look great. There aren't a lot of great Aquaman storylines to adapt but that should give the director and screenwriter some freedom and latitude.

I'm guessing with Wonder Woman off the table for TV that A film is being developed possibly for 2016 or maybe WW and Aquaman will be introduced in the JLA film. An Atlantis-Amazon War would give the heroes a reason to band together.

Namor rights reverted back a few years ago. They were separated from FF and bounced to Universal, then back to Marvel.

You're right about a Amazon/Atlantis connection. It would be much simplier to explain all the classical mythology connected stuff in one shot.

Chris - the Flash costume was bulky, but I think that was due to material at the time. It was the same stuff as Keaton's Michelin Man Batman suit. I agree he was too thick, but the slim designs didn't occur until the guy who designed Raimi's Spidey suit. He reinvented the whole approach.
