    It's official...no red for Captain America 2

One Per Case SDCC San Diego Comic Con 2013 Hasbro Booth Sunday Captain America Winter Soldier Bl.JPG

Anybody else see this SDCC pic of the Captain America 2 Marvel Legends movie figure? He has zero red in his costume now...not even his shield!

    Not liking that at all.

The Marvel universe is starting to look like a glorified SWAT movie. They even botched the Falcon as well. I hope the DC movies carry a more faithful interpretation to the look of the comics. If the Flash comes out wearing goggles and looks like a hit man, we'll know.

Yeah, I'm really surprised at this...I mean, Electro I can accept. He would look goofy as hell with a giant yellow starfish mask on his face, but Cap is so iconic, and whatever happened to the old "red, white and blue"?

I've read that Cap will eventually go back to his old WWII outfit at some point in the film, but so what? These movies are beginning to look like a fashion show for nerds. From my perspective, just show the heroes as they should appear and let's get down to some good storytelling. They mess too much with the brand, so they can sell new toys. That's why they do this.

^^You know, I know you're right, and yet, I'm guilty as sin of running to the store year after year to get the newest movie figures. LOL I can't wait to own a movie Electro figure.

They sure know how to abuse us don't they?

^^^ LOL! So very true. But I'll be honest. I stay away from most movie-related product in retail stores these days. An inventory overview last year forced me to realign my thinking on the casual merchandise purchases. In short, their space killers with the packaging and don't retain any value if I want to get rid of them. The only exception has been the original Spiderman movie figures. A bunch of that stuff is starting to sell well, which is good. Because I'm selling all of mine.

Put the pitchforks down guys, I wouldn't call it official. Remember these photos?

I'm thinking this is a "stealth" treatment of the shield, and we'll obviously see the true shield in the movie as well.

Is it a ploy to sell more toys? Sure. Now Hasbro can sell TWO types of Cap shields. But as long as they don't permanently change it to this, I can deal.

Yeah, and I didn't like it there either.

That's exactly the point. That's how S.H.I.E.L.D. thinks a Captain American outfit should look like. Without Coulson's "design input" they were free to mess with it however they wanted. Obviously, making it stealthy is a good idea, but it removes any sense of American Patriotism. Which is why Steve is disgusted by it and steals back his old uniform.

Is that really a relevant story point we have to drudge through? I wish they could just advance the narrative instead of having to peel back the psychology of, "Is it the suit that makes the man or the man that makes the suit"?

If you look at the picture directly behind the mannequins, Cap has red gloves on. I'm willing to bet the all blue suit is for a certain scene in the movie.
