    Beware the Batman

    SPOILERS FOR THE DEBUT

Not a bad debut. It felt a bit like "The Batman" but smarter. The early episodes of that show were poorly written, in my estimation. Bald, buff, secret agent Alfred is going to take some getting used to. Although Alfred has been known to have British military/secret service ties in the past, even on BTAS. Not sure how Katana is going to work out, but we'll wait and see.

The animation looked like the quality of the GL series, which was good for TV.

Overall, I liked it. I will admit I'd rather have seen a new Superman series, or maybe give some other characters a chance, but apparently CN wants a Batman series constantly on. Wish we could have kept B&B, but this one looks like it will be worth a watch every week.

I for one really liked it.

I love Morrison's Pyg and Frog. They could be the new Joker/Harley in this show or since they are eco-terrorist the new Ivy/Harley. I hope soon we will see more of the Circus of Strange.

Seeing Michael Holt was a shocker. Could we see Mr. Terrific sometime in future episodes.

Stagg was to be expected since Metamorpho is to show up. With Kantana and Metamorpho could Batman and the Outsiders be included in this season.

    July 20: Secrets
A new female villain named Magpie kidnaps Batman (who must decipher her multiple personality disorder in order to outsmart her).

    July 27: Tests
Bruce puts Katana through a series of tests to prove her loyalty. As Batman, he battles against Anarky.

    Here is the write up:
Crime-fighting vigilante Batman teams up with swordmistress Katana and his ex-secret agent butler Alfred Pennyworth to face the criminal underworld led by Anarky, Magpie, Ra's al Ghul, Talia al Ghul, Tobias Whale, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad, and Humpty Dumpty. Anarky, in particular, will be the main antagonist in the series.

I liked the show. I thought the animation looked a little too 90's Beast Wars. I felt the same about Green Lantern when it was on. I'll be watching it. I think it's great they are looking outside the box for villains. It's not that I don't like Joker, Riddler etc. but I've seen them before. It's a cool new approach.

Green Lantern being scrapped was a fallout of the Live Action movie. They have to plan this cartoons years in advance, so when the Green Lantern movie got horrible reviews they decided to just release the first season of Green Lantern and move on.

I cannot explain what happened to Young Justice. It was a great show and keep getting better with each episode.

^The toyline failed, and the viewership skewed older than what they wanted. No big secret there, the show became so convoluted it was hard for an adult to follow. I enjoyed it, but it was way too dense.

The toys failed because they were stupid.

                1. They should have never added the build a Hall of Justice. It should have been the SDCC exclusive.

                2. There waves made no since. Wave 1 should have been: Robin, Aqualad, JLA member, Villain.
Wave 2 should have been: Superboy, Miss Martian, JLA Member, Villain
Wave 3 should have been: Kid Flash, Artimes, JLA Member, Villain
Wave 4 should have been: Speedy, Robin or Superboy repaint, JLA member, Villain

If they would have released them in this format without the HOJ they would have sold better. The problem was we got 3 version of Aqualad, 3 version of Kid Flash before we got Robin. From what Mattel said with the JLU, they had to pack in more Superman and Batman so people could notice them. So where were the Robins and Superboys in the YJ lineup.

I could not Stand Young Justice.
The Pastel Anime Japanese Type Colors and Animation never set well with me...., And THAT nonsense Replacing Brave and the Bold, left a Bad Taste in my mouth from the word go.

Green Lantern was good, something new and Fresh.
It's a Shame. ... Just like Brave and Bold.

I caught the first episode today. It was really well done... but definitely more Dark Knight than Caped Crusader, if you know what I mean.

The show appears promising. Don't care for "jason Statham" as Alfred but it might grow on me. Like seeing Stagg and Holt. Never have cared for Katanna. A hero whose main weapon is a sword just doesn't jibe with a hero who is against killing. If the end goal is to get to the Outsiders, why not just start there. I also don't understand the aversion to Robin as partner.

Now, that doesn't mean I won't really grow to like this show very much because it had a lot of cool stuff. Loved the opening scene and the use of Pygg and Toad. By the way, what is Toad? Is he a mutated Toad? A little dude in a toad suit? Is he like Killer Croc, a man with an unfortunate condition tha makes him look like a Toad? And why weren't Batman and Alfred more stunned by him. Is he a bridge to a Kamandi type Earth.

I have a lot of question, but I'll DVR it again next week.

watched it on youtube, and I do like the set up with Katanna being his chauffeur and bodyguard, guess its intended as a knock off of the Green Hornet and Kato. Nice to see other DCU names popping up on the show, too.

Saw it, liked it a lot, different approach, but none the less very entertaining. I like the idea of doing something different with Alfred, otherwise I'd find it to be a bit boring.

The second episode was great. There were a lot of great moments in Secrets, and despite its title, a lot of truths were revealed. Never heard of Magpie before, but she made for a kick-*** villainess. And there was a fantastic twist that I won't spoil. You think you know what it's going to be, but then they pull the rug right from under you. And Bruce proves he really the world's greatest detective. Overall, it was the best episode of the two, and sets up an interesting premise regarding future episodes. I can't wait. Also, there was a really cool cameo in the beginning that I did not expect that I think everybody will love.

I enjoyed it pretty well though Alfred was quite a departure from what I'm used to. I would have liked to see a Superman cartoon also. I generally prefer hand drawn animation to computer stuff but I'll take what I can get.
