Hopefully this deal will have a positive effect on Warner bringing DC characters to the big screen.

Bret Ratner...the man who brought you X-Men 3. Why does this NOT sound like a good deal?

Hopefully it's just Ratner's money and not his directing.

I can just see Jackie Chan as Blue Beetle and Chris Tucker as Booster Gold, though, lol.

We all have guilty pleasures, though. I liked X-Men 3. It certainly wasn't what the Dark Phoenix storyline should have been, but I enjoyed the action. But I wouldn't try to convince anyone to change their mind about it.

^Oh, I don't hate it like some people. It's enjoyable, but definitely a step down in quality all around though. Singer hasn't done too well in recent years either, so who knows.

I know Ratner's not the key financier, but I'm hoping he'll just be a producer in name only or a deal-maker. Has he directed anything lately?

I hope the story is right and we see some characters other than Superman ant Batman get a shot, but has it been money that has stalled other films or poor scripts and reticence on the part of film makers to tackle such projects?

It was not a money issue. Tull was flush in capital, more than any other financier.

The key is the investment slate. Dune/Ratner is apparently taking the older across-board model, which is how Universal sandbagged Relativity with junk buys for years. Tull had a much better deal, which is what irked WB since TDK exploded.

The irony of all of that is WB wouldn't have gotten Begins off the ground if it wasn't for Tull. They were indebted to the guy coming along at a time when WB was seriously considering selling DC because they couldn't turn out one film while Marvel was crushing it.

SDCC will shake most of this out. Ratner's a nightmare of a human. If he gets involved, people are going to wax poetic about Snyder.
