That's a tough question because of the way it's asked. If I think of only Batman when I see one particular actor, that would be Adam West. Because that's all he's really known for outside of his vocal performances on cartoons. So his face and voice immediately instills that character from the '66 show. All the other actors who have portrayed Batman have gone on to make their name in other projects, if they hadn't already. But in saying Adam West, I'm not suggesting he's the best or my favorite in the role. Just the most immediately identifiable to that singular character.Last edited by MIB41; Jun 17, '13, 1:30 PM. -
Conroy ....
Anytime I read a Batman Comic ..., or he shows up ..., that The Voice I hear in my Head, when I read the lines. Its weird.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

I guess when discussing movies Bale comes to mind first, because it's probably going to be the most relevant version to that conversation, but in any other context I'll free associate West with Batman. I always read Batman comics with West's voice, without thinking.Comment

Honestly, I didn't mean this be painful for anybody. Your responses won't be graded.
I went with West. I do hear Conroy's voice when I read the books, and I feel Bale is the most appropriately cast of the modern movies, but if you crack my skull open, West and Burt Ward would come running out of it. To my inner child (who comes out to play a lot) they'll always be Batman and Robin.

I kept it animated, and went with Conroy. Second choice would be Soule.
As for humans, none of them have struck a chord with me as being perfectly cast for 'it's real this time' Batman. I don't mean this as a slight to anyone's acting abilities, I just don't think any of them look the part. They're all too small in my opinion. I know, Cavill isn't big and he pulls off Superman. I just don't get the same sense of stature from the other guys. If West's version wasn't so campy, I'd think he made the best Wayne. When I see pictures from him from the 60s I think Wayne more than any of the others.

Adam West is by far the best Bruce Wayne, it's not even close, no one can match his suave and sophisticated demeanor.
As Batman on the other hand, well, that's where the campiness came in, and I just can't take him as a serious Batman.
I'd have to go with Christian Bale's Dark Knight portrayal, that's the baddest Batman right there.
Oh, sorry, I don't count cartoon voice overs, lol.Last edited by Hector; Jun 17, '13, 4:33 PM.sigpicComment
