Hope for Clark Kent's glasses in MOS?

Now, this sounds encouraging for those of us concerned Clark Kent will go without his trademark glasses.:

    Also there is this:

    POSSIBLE SPOILERS

This is the name of the last track on the Man of Steel soundtrack:

What Are You Going To Do When You Are Not Saving The World? - 16:01-17:02

Anyone get the feeling that maybe Superman adopts his classic Clark look at the end of the film, maybe with Lois' help? I'm getting the idea of a Kingdom Come like ending where Superman finally puts on the classic lenses. Just a thought.

Phew! I was worried there for a second. I would love an ending like that, with them together and her helping him in that way. And yeah, I've read some posts that indicate the film will take a KC direction. I'm not familier with that story, but I'm assuming it has to do with Superman. Also, that's a long title for a score track.

I LOVE that idea Chris! Might be interesting to profile the hero before we get to the next phase of his life as a citizen of Metropolis. I could definitely invest in that logic. I hope you're right!

Well, and Smallville (hear Hector groan) set a bit of a precedent with that...Clark adopting the glasses AFTER essentially starting his super hero career. And love it or hate it, Smallville is now a part of the fabric, and the scene where Jonathan Kent (Costner) reveals the ship to young Clark is straight out of Smallville episode 1.

I could be totally wrong, but it would be neat and dramatic to see Clark put on the glasses at the end of the flick and become the classic Clark Kent. I think this is the way the recent "Superman: Year One" graphic novel went as well, and it's cited as an influence on MOS.

Loved that scene in Kingdom Come where Superman finally re-embraces his humanity and puts on the specs again. What a great ending.

Chris, I think you've nailed it. Good sleuthing.

A great ending would be Clark joining the staff of the Daily Planet. All along I thought the idea of the movie sounded like a road to Superman or even a compressed version of Smallville, where he sorts things out. We get the status quo at the end of the film instead of the middle like Superman: The movie.

Really, if you look to the John Byrne origin and a Superman for all Seasons and even the first episode of The Adventures of Superman with George Reeves and Superman: The Movie, the glasses don't come until he goes to Metropolis. Seems like in Birthright, the glasses may have been there when he was a traveling reporter.

Only with the retcon of Superboy in the mid to late golden-age does Clark have need of a double identity before he goes to Metropolis.

                Bingo.

And if I'm not mistaken, Chris Reeve's young self (Kent) didn't have glasses anyway.

hopefully this movie has nothing to do with past movie incarnations.

Hopefully your extreme polarization is offabase.

You absolutely suck if you think the past movie incarnations absolutely suck.

the ones that you like are just ok, and that's just the first one(the rest were unwatchable), to me, and Returns demonstrated that tying into them was a mistake.

You'll find this hard to believe but I was SO very drunk 5 hours ago when I used the phrase "You absolutely suck..." to make my point in my last post. You must've done a doubletake when you saw that, because even with the recent troubled water under our bridge, that's still an unacceptable phrase. Both my drunk Hulk and sober Banner make apologies for that...

That said, we'll agree to disagree.

I think all 5 movies have a heart in each, somewhere. I also think that Returns is close to perfect as far as superhero movies go. Unfortunately, it'll always be "That weird one with the superkid in it."

Hello, new day. The most important thing in my life.... Very clean... and quite sober

To me the Christopher Reeve franchise stops after "Superman II". It's time to put that era to rest and move on. "Superman Returns" proved that.

I dunno if Superman Returns proved anything other than you don't give Superman a kid in a live action feature film.

I think it's safe to say that if THAT aspect wasn't a part of the movie, there's a good chance that the same cast and crew could have completed a movie that was more acceptable to a wider audience....

...and if THAT would've happened who KNOWS what we'd be looking at in 2015. Maybe simultaneous releases of both Avengers.... AND a JLA movie starring Routh and pulling along Bale and the dude that played Green Lantern... and then, of course you'd have MIB41's DC dopplegangers who'd call WB/DC geniuses for how they made everything come together that way.

Yes, if it isn't clear, I blame DC's failings in opposition to Marvel in the movies squarely on one of my favorite superhero films: Superman Returns. To me, it's a great movie, but had horrible choices as far as a franchise builder, painting themselves into a corner with "Superkid".
