News only Hector can fully appreciate...

Ryan Reynolds WILL return as the Green Lantern. Not only in the Justice League, but also a followup sequel to the Green Lantern film. Hector? How many drinks should I pour ya? The glowing pooch is back!

Personally I didn't think the film was all that bad. In fact I liked it. Yes, they did a number of miscues on the villain end of things, but I liked Ryan Reynolds as the Lantern. I think if you had made him too serious, the whole concept would have come off as camp. Sinestro looked great and the Lantern Corps are established. The money has been spent. Lets move forward with that world instead of retelling it.

Great news! I'm actually really excited! Reynolds was great as Hal, first playing the cocky, over-confident test pilot, then the more serious Green Lantern once he realizes why he was chosen (Hammond even makes a comment about it).

        http://collider.com/geoff-johns-gree...f-steel-arrow/

The above link goes to the actual video interview with Johns by Collider, which cosmicbooknews.com wrote its article from.

It's a good interview, although like always Johns keeps things fairly close to the vest, but it still goes 14 minutes and covers comics, film and TV.

I hope cosmicbooknews.com's extrapolations of John's very vague answers to the film questions actually happen. I like Reynolds in the GL role and the movie did a lot of things well upon which a screenwriter and/or director more in tune with the character and the sci-Fi/fantasy nature of the core concepts could build.

It'll be interesting what DC and Warners announces at Comic-Con. Total speculation, but if Man of Steel does blockbuster business its first weekend, I bet they don't wait a month to announce some plans, whether it's a JLA movie or Superman/Batman or whatever.

Again more speculation: If MOS does IM3 business, Warners might choose to do a slower build to a JLA film, following Marvel's path to the Avengers. But if it does just good tent pole buisness, Warners might cut to the chase and do the JLA movie. The better MOS does, the more options.

If MOS performs flatly like Superman Returns or bombs, we might have to be happy with DC's direct to video animated movies, which are fun.

The new Superman animated flick is quite good.

As said when the movie was released, the sequel looked far more promising, and more of what the fans wanted. I had no problem with Reynolds as GL, I think he did well with what he had to work with. A tighter script focused on him and his struggle with Mark Strong's fantastic Sinestro would be a winner to me.

Agreed. And lets face it. Green Lantern's origin is kind of blase anyway when you look at it. The hard part is out of the way now. Now we can get into some serious kick arse action between him and Sinestro. I think fans will come around.

Ironically, Geoff Johns was signed on as a creative consultant for Green Lantern to ensure "that it was the best [movie] it could be," yet most of the complaints of the film were about the changes he made. Now some people are saying he should stay away from the sequel.

Actually Reynolds grew on me a bit as GL, kinda like foot fungus, lol.

As mentioned elsewhere, I thought Reynolds was Van Wilder with a power ring. I suppose one could argue that the Hal character is not much more than that, so maybe he is a good fit. I just thought the movie was a train wreck, disjointed and way too obsessed with Hammond's character. This film planted several seeds for future installments when it should have just told a badass space story instead of having it be mostly earth-bound. Earth could have waited until part 2 when Sinestro tried to claim it. Despite what Johns says, I doubt we'll see Reynolds back in the role.

Just to clarify, Johns never said Reynolds would be back. The question was asked and he didn't answer. All Johns said about Green Lantern is that there are plans.

In an interview earlier this year, Reynolds said he wasn't eager to return to the role, but that a great script could change that.

Yup. And "plans" does not necessarily mean a sequel either. Could mean anything, really. The whole article sounds like pure speculation at this point...

so, from that garbled internet article you get all that? Looks like a bunch of cobbled together quotes to me. The down time and fanboy speculation on a sequel is exactly how it was after Brandon Routh tanking in Superman Returns.

I remember reading that before. It seemed fake to me. However, since they also reported on the Man of Steel script (and that part turned out true) maybe it is official.
