In the event that Robert Downey, Jr. decides NOT to reprise his role as Tony Stark/IRON MAN, who would YOU choose to take said role over? Would you pick a known actor or would you cast a charismatic newcomer? I was watching Joseph Gordon-Levitt on "The Nerdist" the other night and it struck me that he could likely pull off a pretty good, if different, Tony Stark. What think you folks?

Maybe Johnny Depp. Just as long as Marvel doesn't reboot the franchise with another orign story. Too soon for that. Robert mentioned on The Daily Show last week that he's currently re-negotiating his contract with Disney/Marvel. Question is will Stark put the armor on again, or pass it on to someone else and act as an advisor/mentor?Comment

If they can keep RDJ around for Avengers 2, I wouldn't mind Iron Man taking a break for a bit, and have Marvel bring other characters to film. That said, when the time comes for a new IM film, I'd second enyawd72 and get Jeffery Dean Morgan on the horn. Or Josh Brolin."It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."Comment

Put another character and actor in the suit, if you must. Audiences LOVE RDJ as Stark, and actor and character are more deeply connected in people's minds than most other film super heroes. I honestly don't think they should recast Stark, just take him out of the equation, and Iron Man too, if they can stand to let him go.
I think with the opening they just had (2nd highest ever, after Avengers which also had you-know-who-as you-know-who) Disney/Paramount will do whatever it takes to get RDJ back inside a tin can.

I never would have thought of RDJ for the role until I saw him in the role. maybe it's his own struggles with life that mirror what tony went through in the early 80's comics but he made the character live. if rdj says he wants distance from the role then marvel should focus on another character or follow the mid 80.s and put Rhodey in the lead.Comment
