... and THEN if that is successful, they'll make the Flash, Green Lantern 2, Wonder woman, and a new Batman film. Hmmmm. That's putting the cart before the horse isn't it? Here's the article...

That sounds like it would rival Phase 1 of the MCU...if it actually happens. I hope it does, that would be really cool.sigpic

They've been toiling on those same projects for years now.
What they have wrong is Snyder not directing JLA. Unless WB/Legendary likes something they're currently seeing in production, Gareth Edwards and Godzilla for example, it's Snyder's movie.
Very slim chance he turns it down.
I would say Del Toro's an option, but that guy just gloms onto a project and suffocates it from ever being made. I mean, the guy just killed off any chance of the mystic DC characters from being produced because he wants to do JL:Dark or something. That locked up like seven characters for a project he won't be getting to anytime soon.
We're not going to see a GL movie anytime soon. That ship has sailed. Flash will be seen as just as risky.
And a Batman reboot won't happen until post-JLA movie.
Only Wonder Woman has a chance.
Otherwise, they're going to hit with JLA then spin whichever actor/character goes over best with the audience.
They're screwed by the timetable. Avengers 2, Guardians of the Galaxy X-Men, and the FF reboot are going suck up a lot of the Super-Team premises.Comment

Snyder confirmed literally hours ago that he would direct a JL film if the studio green-lit it. Other directors were David Fincher, Nicolas Winding Refn, Ben Affleck, and Darren Aronofsky as [top] picks to direct the film. I would say give Aronofsky the Batman film. Maybe Nicolas could direct GL2, since the studio wants it darker and edgier.sigpic

If this hinges on MOS performing well, then I'm surprised the story/rumor is floating around already. Too soon to tell if its going to be another Dark Knight or a Green Lantern. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

No, skippy, what the public thinks. Numbers speak for themselves. GL was a stinkburger. If Supes performs like GL forget about it. Prepare for another Bat-Reboot instead if that happens. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. I'll believe it when I'm sitting in front of the movie sipping my ICEE....otherwise I don't believe squat what DC says.....Comment

Well, whether it's true or not... or any given idea is good or not, I DO believe that MIB41's idea that this is "putting the cart before the horse" is offbase.
What cart? What horse? For all we know, if Marvel would have started with an Avengers movie and THEN released standalones, it would've worked out BETTER than how it actually occurred... no one knows what the right way to order these franchises is , PLUS no one knows if there IS a right order to begin with.
And, I venture to say that it may be in DC's best interest to do the OPPOSITE of what Marvel did, anyway, and throw everyone a curve, away from the "let's copy Marvel's successful approach" approach.
AND it's a friggin great way to quickly and uniquely usher in a new Batman actor, ESPECIALLY if MOS does well."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

^Yeah, but it ensures that the Batman director is saddled with the casting and character direction of ANOTHER director. I don't whole heartedly agree with Jett of Batman On Film, but if JLA comes first, whoever inherits the Batman franchise is essentially going to direct a JLA:Batman solo project, not a Batman film like the other directors before him.

^totally agree with Huedell on characters like Wonder Woman, GL, Flash and Aquaman. A JLA movie is a perfect launching pad for DC 2nd tier characters. It also allows Warners to exploit is third biggest DC brand behind Superman and Batman without the chance of another flop like green Lantern ankleing it.
Chris' point about the casting of Batman is true, too, but Warners could always recast. it's not like it hasn't been done before.Comment

History speaks for itself. Captain America, Thor, and the Iron Man movies all laid the ground work, story points, and MOMENTUM for the Avengers to be the movie it became. What will the Justice League be built upon? Superman? Okay... Marvel has a proven track record. You have an idealized future borrowing results from Marvel's history. Lets see who comes out on top. I'll put my money on what's in the bank... with more to come. DC has been talking about the Justice League for years. And every other month they come out with a different "plan" to make it. Right now it's easier to gauge whether they stick to the same plan for 60 days.So yes, the cart is well before the horse. Draw out a plan and stand behind it. All of these "what if's" demonstrate a complete lack of knowledge or confidence in the product.

Nothing personal to anyone here, but what you think you know about the Marvel strategy is spin-n-hype put out by Marvel.
They couldn't afford, literally, to do an Avengers film first.
They put half of their character trademarks up as collateral against a 500 million dollar loan because nobody was interested in financing any Marvel property outside of Spider-Man and the X-Men, which even then, was more about Wolverine.
New Line was not going to move on Iron Man, but they were also not going to relinquish the rights. Arad played a fast one to get them back. He then struck a 50/50 deal with Paramount and a co-finance with Universal. Their money was actually on Incredible Hulk to cover Iron Man, but it ended up being the opposite and making the investment even. They went ahead with Thor, Cap because IM2 would cover those losses plus sequels usually have bigger returns. They again broke even.
At this point the loan was still out and they didn't have the funds to move on the Avengers, so they sold to Disney. If the sale didn't happen, they wouldn't have been able to make the film. It looks brilliant in hindsight, but it actually did not play out how they expected.
The problem for DC, is you can't follow the same model without Bale because you need that established ground pre-Iron Man. Otherwise, it's going to feel second-rate.
They're better off doing JLA first and creating a totally different story as to how a Super-Team gets together. If you foreshadow events in multiple solo films, people will already know what's coming and not care about the payoff.Comment
