Another Robin. You are not going to believe this...

Oh hello Carrie Kelly! Goodbye childhood... (and this from the guy who usually puts up with DC and even defends them. I think I'm done defending.)

Oh brother... even I, who basically just knows the classic Robin, and none of the other new ones, thinks this is a dumb idea.

The negativity with this confuses me. Wasn't this bound to happen sooner or later?

Frankly, I can't believe this hasn't happened sooner. It's been YEARS since TDK's original release and success.

Miller's Dark Knight was hugely trumpeted by comic diehards everywhere in the known universe, so why is anyone put off by this?

It's not like Kelly isn't already in the same league as Todd and Drake.

Altho' I DO find it odd that when I went to wiki just now to try to remember/recover Drake's name, Kelly's name was NOT listed alongside Todd and Drake, yet there were a couple that I didn't even recognize, even a "Stephanie".

Hmmmm. I'm interested to hear your guys' take on this.

Stephanie Brown aka the Spoiler, aka Batgirl v3 (an awesome Batgirl btw) was Tim Drake's on again, off again gf. There was a period where Tim's father discovered he was Robin and literally forbade him from doing it. In that time, Batman took Steph as a new Robin, but she screwed it up pretty royally. I adore Steph and I wish DC would include her in the New 52. As it is, they cover their eyes and say Steph who??

"The Dark Knight" was never in-continuity and was more of an Elseworlds/What If story. In fact, it comes at the very end of Bruce Wayne's career as Batman.
So introducing Carrie Kelley now when Batman has only been around for 5-10 years into the NEW 52 relaunch seems ridiculous to me. Seems like they've already
run out of ideas for the New 52 with this turn of events...

Anthony, the way I see things progressing in the comic/SciFi universe, there is no such thing as continuity and everything is "elseworlds". LOL

Just reboot everything! Movies, shows, comics, music, food!

The FM DK story will always be my favorite version of story telling/universe of the characters since it has a special memory of my youth and deceased older brother.

But in paraphrasing your words with regard to Carrie Kelley Robin..."Meh!"

Not to mention the fact that DC had a popular Robin in Damian Wayne and offed him. They could have over ridden Morrison on that.

Well, you guys have better discretion than me as fans. I'm not a "Dark Knight" guy, but after reading Anthony's post, it puts what's really going on in perspective added to what I already know. I was guessing fans would be excited to see a celebrated "What if" character joining in.

I guess what it's really all about is "Cash grab name dropping (so to speak)" plus "Tone Of New Canon/Timeline Disrespect with or withOUT Canon Tonal Differences" = "Bad move in most regular readers eyes"

And thanks for the Stephanie summation boynightwing, I used her in this context for obvious reasons... now, I'd venture to say, that you guys think that even bringing HER back would be a better choice than Kelly, in that she makes more sense with a normal type new DC canon and timeline of Batman's career issues.

I think using Carrie now makes her less special. Especially the way they're introducing her.

In DKR she is a young girl who was saved by Batman from some skinhead punks. She see's all this news footage of the guy and takes it upon herself to buy a costume and go out and help him. Then she saves HIS life from the Mutant Leader! It is so dramatic and awesome and makes me tear up every time I read it and or now watch the cartoon. He's all messed up, in pain, disoriented, and at first he thinks she is Dick Grayson. He doesn't even know what year it is. Then when he's stable, he asks her name and accepts that she is his new Robin.

What they want to do is anticlimatic. She happens to know Damian? How does Damian know anybody outside the Bat family? He's 10. As far as I know, he doesn't even go to school. They never seemed to bring it up. He was always just Robin the Boy Pain in the Rump. Which was lazy too. I was always interested in the off hours of heroes like that. What is school like for a kid who spends all night on the roof tops of Gotham? Who are his friends? etc etc.

Your perspective makes a lot of sense. Especially the bit about Carrie's uniqueness in Bat-lore being compromised with this.

Nothing DC does nowadays surprises me. DKR made them a lot of money, and they want more, so they'll mine that shaft until it's bone dry.
