I would go with the hulk (70s version) when hes extremely angry if the fights in brute strength. Superman has advantages in many other areas though. Flight, heat vision, super breath, and momentum from hitting with sudden impact from a long distance. Lets not even begin on the battle of the wits

I think if Superman REALLY needed to stop him he could pick him up (maybe along with the ground around him) and hurl him into deep space.

The writer of the article seems to forget that Superman was beaten to DEATH by Doomsday. If Doomsday could take Superman, the Hulk sure as heck can.

That second Superman/Spider-Man treasury crossover is a great book, one of my all time favourites.

I like how Superman starts out by just absorbing Hulk's blows, but then as Hulk gets madder and stronger, he has to start raising his hand to deflect the blows.
As there's theoretically no limit to the Hulk's potential strength, if Superman hadn't noticed the ultrasonic transmitter... who knows how it would have turned out?

And the 90s Marvel VS DC battle would have been awesome if it had been the savage Hulk rather than Hulk with the brain of Banner.

I know what you mean. My good buddy and writer Dan Jurgens (he wrote Superman for years in the 90's and Thor as well) wrote this to me about my "Hulk vs Superman" article. It explains exactly what you just said...

"Fun stuff, John! When I was a kid, I always wanted to see a Hulk/Superman fight. My theory was always that the Hulk was so savage, so raw and able to "fight dirty", that he'd beat Superman. It's important to note that, at that time, DC's Superman was more passive and laid back. We're talking early 70's here.

In a way, that was the birth of what would eventually become Doomsday.

However, by the time I was doing Superman and we did the DC/Marvel x-over, it seemed more as though Superman would win. That Superman was a little more down-and-dirty, while the Hulk had actually become more restrained, civil and intelligent."
