This was a hard line-up to assemble. As much as I want to keep it to the core originals, the League that I grew up with was the Satellite Era League. I think Elongated Man was sorely under utilized, and then kicked to the curb to make room for Plastic Man lately. This line-up may reflect more of a Batman-centric team - the thread being Batman, Black Canary, Elongated Man, The Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter. They each have a mystery-solving, clue-hunting, "law enforcement", science-lab link. Superman and Wonder Woman are there for the heavy lifting and Zee is along to cover Supes' back and provide a love-triangle with Batman and Wonder Woman.

^ I took somewhat the same approach...while the original 7 founders would normally be the way to go, I wanted to include some from the Satellite Era. So older JLAers like Atom and Aquaman (limited use IMO) and J'onn J'onzz (duplicated power-wise elsewhere) were eliminated in favor of Red Tornado, Firestorm and Hawkman.
Plus there's some good group dynamics there: Supes/Bats/WW, GA/BC, GA/GL, GL/Flash, GA/Hawkman, Reddy/Firestorm.

That's cool, But...
I'll take the JLA in their heyday, Barry as the Flash and Diana as Wonder Woman instead of Dinah as Black Canary in her place like in the '80's retcon.

I'll keep Wally and Dick as Titans. They can change costumes and grow up as much as they want to, but once a Titan, always a Titan.

I think they'd have their butts handed to them...no real powerhouses on the team...possibly Hawkman with some boosted Thanagarian strength. With Beetle and Booster and Fire and Ice (hmmmm...now there's a title for a book if I ever saw one), I have a hard time meshing the humorous Justice League International with members of the classic Justice League of America.

I loved the 90's JLI league but this is a tough one. I always disliked Superman in the league because (especially in the 70's) he was so powerfull in his own right same for GL. Also I will try not to duplicate powers/archetypes (ie batman and blue beetle

as far as having their butts handed to them- they each have done fine solo to some degree and i want a league to have apurpose. superman doesn't need a league, neither does GL, or WW for that matter, batman doesn't really either and certainly isn't a team player.

i would like to see a team that actually need eachother and a writer could actually write decent stories for.

sure it is fun to see all the big guns together - Justice League of America was the one comic I regularly bought as a kid for this reason.

but it doesn't make a great story.
