Really? I never read the "had to be an Avenger in the past" rule on this
    thread.

I guess it was just "understood"? (Or I glossed over that---if I did... apologies)

Funny though...I have STAN LEE's auto-bio and the way he describes the
AVENGERS is more the way that I described it---i.e. "anyone" can be
involved....a great trick for "mixing it up" "keeping it interesting"

Granted they've stayed away from certain characters in the past...interesting
to note that only SS and GR from My List were not included in the AVENGERS
in the past---thats more from my list making it in than I thought.

And as far as the lists here having had to make for good "team dynamic" ???

Well, one could make a case for any team of TEN Marvel heroes having
a good team dynamic easily---if they pitched it well enough. 'Cause Ten is
a LOT of personalities---in fact it'd be hard to make a ten member team
WITHOUT a cool dynamic of some sort running thru all those personalities
    and powers

Funny...on all of these similar threads out of all the posters you seem to be the only one who didn't get it.

Stan is probably comparing The Avengers to say The Fantastic Four, where it's sort of like a little family. Yes technically "anyone" can be an Avenger but you have to be voted in...not like people can just pop in and grab an Avenger's ID card. If you're looking for an "anyone can be involved" you might wanna try the Defenders...they were always considered the "non-team" of Marvel.

Again, I don't think you get it...since we're using The Avengers as an example, here's what I mean by "team dynamic"...characters that work well and play off each other and have a history so to speak...
      - Vision and Scarlet Witch
      - Vision and Wonder Man
      - Beast and Wonder Man
      - Ant-Man and the Wasp
      - Wasp and She-Hulk
      - Captain America and Hawkeye
      - Captain America/Iron Man/Thor
      - Captain America and Sub-Mariner
      - Iron Man and Black Widow
      - Hawkeye and Black Widow
      - Swordsman and Mantis
      - Sub-Mariner and Hulk
      - Thor and Hercules

Get it? Throw any of those combinations on the team and you're heading in the right direction for a classic Avengers team, of which there have been many.

To further empasize the point, in the JLA for example Green Arrow can play off well with or against Green Lantern, Hawkman, Batman or Black Canary.

        Get it?
        No, not really.

You're no fun Anthony, you know that?

Every way that this Avenger thread COULD be interpted that was more "fun" and "open"
you put up an argument against.

But thanks for the education though.

EDITED because I don't want to sound too harsh---but c'mon give me a break

^ Sorry I'm not a barrel of laughs for ya Hugh, geez that's too bad

I think the only "argument" I put up was a joking comment about Joe Quesada loving your initial list, which to me smacked more of let's increase sales temporarily with big names instead of working on a long-range plan. It was more of a comment against Quesada then it was against you.

As for our recent banter, you've stated countless times in the past that you don't follow comic books on a regular basis. Well a lot of us do and I for one am more than happy to share my "CBG" (comic book geekness) with you anytime. Maybe I take it personally but I love me "funny books". Class dismissed!

            Gotta go classic...

            Cap
            Iron Man
            Thor
            Vision
            Hawkeye
            Black Panther
            Wasp

I think The New Avengers are all Skrulls!

Understood---we just see things a lot differently
--for example---to me good "dynamics" between characters
can be something as simple as a more "serious" character having
to "wrestle" with a more carefree character (i.e. SHE HULK
paired with SPIDER-MAN) or a character based on inherent powers
paired with someone who manufactured theirs from weapons etc. (THING and IRON MAN
for example) or how about something as odd as two characters
with unique vehicles/weapons working together (SURFER and GHOST RIDER)
              I could go on...

I tend to go with my original interpretation of STAN LEE's words in his bio---
but its like interpreting anything else I guess...and, like you said, you
              have the CBG history---and, really I don't mind deferring---you've
              earned it
