I also like the Rannian and Thanagarian that were partners. I know that one is Isamot Kol and I can't recall the other one's name.
And of course, who doesn't love Kilowog?

What's the deal with Abin Sur?

Wasn't his only purpose in the DCU to give Hal his ring and then die?

I guess he had other "prequel" adventures I never heard of?

What's the deal with Abin Sur?

If I remember correctly there was a pre-Crisis story where Abin Sur was the GL for the sector containing Krypton...or something along those lines. ('Cause that would put Krypton in the same sector as Earth, 2814, and I don't think that's right???)

I never read these, but the covers always intrigued me...




Plus there was a short by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill in the Green Lantern Corps Annual #2 from 1986 which explained why Abin Sur was riding a spaceship when he encountered Hal Jordan.

Geoff Johns has been using elements of this story and others by Moore on his GL run in recent years.
I'm also left wondering if The Empire of Tears was connected in any way to Nemesis the Warlock!

Abin Sur is still dead. In fact if I recall correctly, one of the most bizarre Post-Moore and Veitch runs of Swamp Thing had Swamp Thing journeying to a section of the DCU "afterlife" that housed aliens! Swampie hung out with the "spirit" of Abin Sur.

Recently Amon Sur, his son that had been inducted into the Sinestro Corps (after his introduction during the Kyle Rayner years) has also been killed.
