I can't see these films collectively making over a billion. I just don't see it. One of them will tank hard, but I don't know which one. Likely Thor since the first one was poorly acted, rushed and overall an average film. I don't see this new one taking off, but of course I thought the same about First Class, so what do I know?
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.
A Ton of Non-Comicbook Know'ers, that I Know Here, ... Loved Thor.., and At the Time when it was Released, They Liked if Far Greater than Cap, and Green Lantern.
I think 1 of em will Tank Hard. Agreed.
I think I could really see myself seeing Ironman and Wolverine in the Theaters. But Man, Do I Loathe That All Gold Design on the New Ironman Suit. Thor ..., Would be a sorta, what Am I doing this Weekend sorta thing ..., And to Be Honest. I Fear Superman so Damn Much ..., I might be Already Programed to See it at Home on Blu Ray.
I never Did See Any Nolan BatFlick on the Big Screen Either.
I liked Thor quite a bit. In the grand scheme of things, it was just an average film. But it was fun and much better than I expected. Cap and the X-men movies were better, but Thor wasn't the mess Green Lantern was, imo.
Granted GL was more comic-accurate than x-men and Thor, but the tone, editing and direction was just all over the place.
I think Wolverine will tank. People still haven't gotten over Origins.Man of Steel will be third. Returns isn't that far removed and will sadly keep too many away. Toss up between Thor and Iron Man. Both will be riding The Avengers wave.
Ironman 3
Wolverine
Thor
and Superman will probably bomb. It is the one i am looking forward to the least, and i'm a DC fan!
The only film i think less of, is the new Star Trek. JJ Trashed My Star Trek with his last film and i'm not going to give him more than Matinee price for this one.
"Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of Doom
I dunno, Thor is the only one of the bunch that gets me halfway interested. None of them have me jumping up and down wanting to go to the theatre the way Dark Knight, Avengers, Iron Man 1, or XMen First Class did.
You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie Banks
I think the performance of Thor will be tied to Iron Man 3. I expect the first weekend of IM 3 to be off the charts as it's the first post Avengers release. If's it's good and keeps people interested, Thor 2 will benefit. Everything's tied together now. I think Wolverine will be the dog of the lot having no connection to First Class or Avengers the most recent Marvel releases. Man of Steel could go either way, but I just don't feel the anticipation for that one.
"Thor: The Dark World" isn't being released until November, far away from the other three...It's success will depend on whatever else is released around it...
Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!
I don't even dare guess. I've been so far off on these predictions for the last several years.
I know Iron Man 3 will do BIG business. Tons of people excited for this one.
Thor will do good business, probably better than the first. Riding off the good will from Avengers, and folks who watched Thor on DVD/Blu-Ray, but missed it in theaters.
The Wolverine will do well. Probably no better than the first solo flick, but decent numbers.
Man of Steel is a crap shoot. It may explode, it may break even, or it may tank. I can't really tell. Snyder hasn't had another hit since 300 (Watchmen did decent business, but not great. Sucker Punch bombed), so you can't really tout his name, and Superman may still have the stink of "Returns", which confused many casual moviegoers. Nolan's name will help it.
I hope it does well, because it looks like a good movie, despite some of the changes I don't agree with, and it's our last hope of getting any other DC films besides Batman, after GL failed to catch on.
As for other genre flicks, Star Trek doesn't look very Trekky to me. I hope I'm wrong, but it seems like they are pulling away from the classic feel that Abrams established pretty well in the first one.
The Lone Ranger looks fun. It's another crap shoot though. I think it will do good business, but then, Dark Shadows tanked with Depp in the lead, and Burton directing!
