    Coulson is alive!!

At the 2013 South by Southwest festival, Joss Whedon confirmed that Coulson is alive in this series [S.H.I.E.L.D.] after his apparent death in The Avengers.
I guess #CoulsonLives/#FuryLies worked after all. Though him being alive makes his death scene in The Avengers less impactful.

Maybe so but I think it was a fantastic plot device if that is the case.

That's a very encryptic statement Whedon is giving. I wouldn't take it at face value. I think Coulson will come back as the Vision.

^^Agreed Tom.^^ They did such a fantastic job in having Coulson so endearing and important to the whole big Marvel movie universe.

I love him. There I said it.

Hell, we ALL love Coulson. I thought that much was obvious.

Well I figured that once it's been announced online and on T.V., then it's not really a spoiler anymore.

I think that's very faithful to the source material. Nobody ever dies for real in a comic book.

I thought there was speculation that Coulson would be appearing only in flashbacks (sort of like the island storyline on "Arrow"). Has this been debunked?

I think so since every news source I've read has announced that he's "back from the dead." Even Gregg has confirmed it:
When describing his character's return from the dead, Gregg said, "When Joss described to me the mystery… and the complexity and the unanswered questions about Phil Coulson standing there trying to deal with this, I found it so fascinating and so true to the world of the comics and mythology in general as I understand them that I was immediately in.”
