I'd HEARD of these characters but hadn't had a chance to read them. Until now:
Interesting stuff, especially if you read the history. The actual stories are there too; some of them are pretty good. They're the comic equivalent of the 70's B-movie: derivative, hurried (4 PAGES a chapter?!?!?) and excessively brutal and violent.
It's fascinating to me to see how the Wertham effect happened differently to comics in different countries. Here, in the 70's in the UK. (Although it didn't stick; considering some of the other comics that were unscathed, such as my much loved 2000AD.) Just a few years ago in Japan. Apparently NEVER in Italy and France....
