Robin to be killed off... again?

I'm starting to think wearing a red tunic is comparable to wearing a red shirt in Star Trek. You're certain to die.

I never cared for Damian and with the New 52 running loose I actually don't care. Tim Drake will always be Robin to me.

My thoughts here, but I agree with Scott. Thankfully Grant Morrison is taking Damian with him as he exits Batman.

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/holy_hit_job_robin_eats_it_kZ9EWvYlw10mf4wS324GhN It's getting to the point that I think DC and Marvel maybe ought to consider going the route Harvey did with Casper and Wendy et al and just set up a cycle of about seven years worth of stories and just keep reprinting them.

This makes the ending of Snyder' "The Death of the Family" even more anti-climactic than it already was. I realize that Snyder was/is telling his Batman stories and Morrison is wrapping up his, but considering that they are dealing with basically the same version of the character it would have made sense to tie these two events together. Yet another example of DC editorial dropping the ball.

^Agreed. I hadn't even thought of that, but apparently the "Death" storyline had no punch and now Damian is to be killed off in another series?

Sounds like "R.I.P." all over again, doesn't it?

^ EXACTLY! Again, I know "Batman and Robin" is Morrison's book but why not use the higher profile title "Batman" to do the deed? Seems ridiculous to have the event take place elsewhere, although at least it was in an actual Batman book, unlike "R.I.P.".

And what was annoying about "R.I.P." it wasn't even a Batman villain but Darkseid that pulled the Omega Beam trigger....

So, in the new 52, is Damian still the kid Batman and Talia sired in "Son of the Demon", or did they do some mumbo-jumbo cloning/sperm doner/accelerated growth crap?

And I heard Mike W. Barr hasn't received one red cent from royalties on Damian's character, either.

Morrison gets to play by his own rules, while editors get to treat the other talent like crap. Reminds me of a newsroom. The celeb writers trump the editors and then the editors take it out on whomever they can.

Another big " not interesting" story... I'm guessing the next Robin will be the girl from DK Returns, which will also be a non- news story. I'm amazed at how these events get media coverage as if it matters to the real world in any meaningful way. Meanwhile, back in in our world, no one investigates crime & corruption anymore. Reporters file fluff pieces on Damian Wayne and Jennifer Lawrence's dress.

Maybe I'm alone here but I liked the character of Damian Wayne / Robin. Brought something different to the table. Hope they find a way to get him back soon so he can become the batman we saw in #666.

Not what else there was to do with him anyway. I really liked when he was teaming up with Dick as Batman, a "fun" Batman and a "dark" Robin mixed things up nicely. Since Bruce has been back the dynamic hasn't been the same.

Too bad, one of the few bright spots at DC as far as new characters go. At least its Morrison doing it to his own creation. Unless this is a fake leak, which I wouldn't put past him.

Didn't they do this when they knocked off Jason Todd, who was, by all accounts, an obnoxious brat in dire need of a kick in the bum?

Damian was simply Jason squared, but I actually prefer him to Jason.

All Jason did was whine, moan, groan and kvetch about stuff.

Damian wasn't a whiner; he was a bit nutso due to his mother's influence true, but he wasn't a whiner.

He actually fought for his place as Robin and did it well. He also had more talent than Jason ever did.

Why does DC feel the need to retread old ground by killing off another child?

Damian has grown from the obnoxious, hard hearted little brat that he started out as, and has become a true hero. He's evolved, while Jason is still pretty much stuck in his previous mindset.

They should have let Jason stay dead.

Tim was a good Robin for his time, but like all Robin's he outgrew it and is now more independent.

Isn't that what all mentors hope for when it comes to their charges/students? For them to grow as people, both physically and emotionally, so that they can stand on their own two feet and face the world on their own terms?

I can't understand all the negativity towards Damian, but, to each his own.

I'm hoping that it doesn't happen, but I get the funny feeling that it will anyway.

no one stays dead in comics anyway. Jason's death had major signifigance for batman, and what did they do, bring him back. Barry Allens death had great signifigance in the flash family and they brought him back too.
i never liked the Damien character, he was really annoying, but I don't care anymore whether thye kill him or keep him, none of it lasts very long
