    Again?

Robin the Boy Wonder, Batman’s aide-de-camp, will be killed battling a brutal enemy in a comic book published Wednesday. The shocking demise of the Dark Knight’s sidekick will first appear in issue…

It's getting to the point that I think DC and Marvel maybe ought to consider going the route Harvey did with Casper and Wendy et al and just set up a cycle of about seven years worth of stories and just keep reprinting them.

The art in those panels makes me want to gag. Damian looks like Charlie Brown in a Halloween costume, and I had no idea Jay Leno is Nightwing.

I can't honestly say I care. I never liked the Damian character, and felt his acceptance by Batman and his partners was extremely out of character for them. I understand Damian has grown in the role, but I just couldn't get past his beginnings.

Maybe DC will let Tim come back as Robin, and stop giving free promotion to that hamburger chain. YUM!!!

Damian's grown on me. Just thinking how big a son would be to Bruce, particularly one about the age he was when he lost his parents. And then having the kid being psychopathic or almost so and Bruce still loving him. It worked for me.

Now I just wonder how long it takes for a writer to put him in the Lazarus Pit.

I kind of hope the new Robin will be Stephanie Brown's intro the New 52.

In a way that's what they've been doing for a long time.... they just change the art and have a new writer tweak things a bit. That's why the imeediate reaction from a long term fan whenever they announce the new big story/marketing tactic/change is invariably "Agaian?!?!"

^DC (particularly, Mort Weisinger) actually recycled previous stories A LOT during the Silver Age. Many of the Superman/Superboy stories of the late 50s and early 60s were new versions of previous stories published in the late 40s/early 50s. Sometimes even the covers were very similar. The idea then, of course, was that the readership changed ever 6 or 7 years, so these kids of the 60s never saw the first version in the 40s.

According to an interview with Tomasi who was the Batman editor when Morrison started on the book and now the writer of Batman and Robin, Damian's death was part of the plan from very early on.

Which makes me sad. I like Morrison, but I've been saying for years I haven't much cared for anything he's done with Batman. The creation of Damian and the time Dick Grayson spent as Batman were highlights of course. Batman RIP was a huge waste of time and money for me. The Return of Bruce Wayne made no sense. Batman Inc felt out of character for Batman.

Sounds like being Robin is almost like being the drummer for Spinal Tap.

Robin has a red tunic, original series Star Trek security guys have red shirts. IT'S SCIENCE!
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

                        Hmmmm....

Batman has some questionable hiring techniques all right:

Despite his genius-level intelligence and impossible techno-wizardry, Batman shows a confusing lack of wisdom and restraint when recruiting allies.
