I gave Snyder the benefit of the doubt with both arcs. Now I'm done. I'd rather spend any Batman money on '66 merchandise this year.

I read Snyder's storyline about Gordon's son. Well-written, but very disturbing. I question taking these characters in that dark of a direction, honestly. Not what I want out of my super hero comics.

        >"The Joker's Utility Belt", "The Joker's 5-Way Revenge", "The Laughing Fish"...can anyone really top those?

Don't forget the old school "Joker's Boner" story.

Yes; deep down inside I'm 14.

        >I'm tired of Batman. That's something I never thought I'd say.

Admitting there's a problem is the first step to finding a cure. I think a LOT of the oldster nerd rage these days is 'cos a lot of the fans are tired of the old stuff but haven't realized it yet. My suggestion; stop. No fanfare, no angry fist shaking.... next month, don't read Batman. Maybe you've seen every permutation ever and there's nothing new there. Maybe you're bloated on a ten year Bat-glut. Either way, it's no biggie. Maybe you'll come back a few months, or years later. Maybe never. Back in "The Day" that's how it worked; when you got bored you moved on.

That's why I advocate doing so with no fanfare or rage; I think too many oldster fans burn the bridge and poison the well by getting all torqued up, blaming them nasty bad writers and editors for besmirching their characters. You MIGHT want to come back at some point, but that'd be harder if you've already built up the big ol' "They've raped my childhood!!!" wall. Leads to stuff like the Spiderman discussion, wherein folks thought the Ock switch sounded kinda interesting but couldn't bring themselves to read it.

Back in the day I was one of the biggest Judge Dredd fans ever, but around the nid-90's I got tired of it. I didn't think it'd happen, but I guess after almost 20 years there's only SO MANY stories left to do. So I stopped reading. Looking back, I feel lucky that I jumped ship when I did; before the proliferation of nerd rage against stuff like changes in perpetual characters. I was kinda bummed, but it wasn't a life changing event or anything. I didn't feel the need to scream to the skies my hatered for the publishers and artists. I just moved on. Now, over a decade later I find myself coming back to the comic, bit by bit. During my absence they changed some stuff, ran some neat stories and made the book fresh again. (Especially after such a lengthy absence on my part.) I don't have a problem coming back 'cos I never felt any kind of anger or defensiveness against the book, the crew or the publisher.

Not expressing rage, or anything close, just disappointment.
