Pioneers of Televison: Super Heroes on PBS Tuesday night

    Sounds interesting!

The superheroes of television lived so vividly in the public’s mind, that actors like George Reeves, Adam West, and Lynda Carter would be defined by their larger-than-life portrayals.

    Heard about it here:

Looks like they stream the full episodes after they air, but probably US only.

Thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to it.

One thing all these actors in common, other than playing superheroes was that they were all likeable in their roles.

I've wanted to catch these as they did Sci-Fi and Western episodes as well.

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

My daughter and I watched this and enjoyed it, but she got a bit uncomfortable when they went into the details of George Reeves' death. I wasn't expecting that.
                        It's all good!

Well, it didn't air on our PBS station. So I guess I'll have to watch online at some point...

One thing I really appreciate about the mini-docs on the Adventures of Superman DVD sets, is the fact that they DON'T dwell on this, and actually talk about the show itself. It's much easier to go the sensational route and forget what made the show a hit that has endured for 60 years.

Saw it...lacked a lot of substance. All of these stories have already been told to death. And Greatest American Hero? Really? Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Hulk and Ralph Hinkley? If they were going to include GAH they should have made mention of guys like Captain Nice and Mr. Terrific. I would have rather have seen bits on Shazam, Isis, Spider-Man...
