Ultimate Spider-Man Season 2 Premieres Tonight

Two new episodes (Lizard then Electro) tonight at 7/7:30 on Disney XD. I'm kind of surprised how quick that was, usually they make you wait longer for a second season (or had time just flown by for me?).

Not a good sign that Disney put this on opposite of Adventure Time.

From what I've read, Season 2 should be better than S1. Less 4th-wall jokes, more action and darker storylines.

        SPOILERS!!!!!

Just finished watching it, and it was (insert profanity of your choice) terrible. If anything, there was MORE fourth wall breaking fantasy sequences. Curt Connors transformation to the Lizard took place over the course of 30 seconds. No depth, no backstory, nothing to make him sympathetic. Connors wasn't even researching lizards! He just sticks himself with a needle of Norman Osborn's mutagenic serum because he can't lift something with one arm?!! Yeah. REALLY. There was ZERO character development of him at all. Ironically, one of the fantasy sequences was a parody of Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends with classic Spidey battling classic Doc Ock, and it was the best part of the episode.

Oh, and Spider-Man now rides a motorcycle on his weblines across town like a freaking high wire act on "Circus of the Stars". Luckily, there was a self aggrandizing appearance by Joe Quesada too, telling us how "awesome" Ultimate Spider-Man is, and how much better the ultimate version of the Green Goblin is than the classic version. If that fat pompous *** was any more full of himself and his "greatness" he'd freaking explode. Keep swelling Joe!
The whole thing was just sickening. But what really ticks me off is that the producers routinely go out of their way to make fun of "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends" which is superior in every way.

Personally I like Iron Man armored adventures and the Avengers Assemble cartoons better than this.
As far as animated SpiderMan,I stick with the 67 series but always wish MTV would have did a second season.
          I Loved that animation style:

This is one that is clearly marketed at kids and kids alone. And that's fine, but I think you can have it both ways. See most of the DCAU output...

They had a much better show in Spectacular Spider-Man all around -- better stories, better characterization, humor more in context, and more all-ages writing. A shame the Disney deal brought it to an end.

^Agreed. Best Spidey theme song since 67 too.

"Spectacular" was pretty good. I think if they'd been given another season or two it could have been a classic. I didn't care so much for the designs though; too simple, unexpressive and everyone looked the same. (Aunt May could have been Petey's sister.)

"Ultimate" is okay, but it plays havok with continuity, adds all sorts of superfluous stuff, and is trying WAY too hard to be "Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja."

Tomorrow, Ultimate Spider-Man returns, with a new episode at 11:30. I hope it's the one where he teams up with The Avengers.
