It's been a long time since I've read Daredevil (since Miller!) and Cap (since Waid/Garney) on a consistent basis but I'm really enjoying Ed Brubaker's run on these titles. You can see the 60s/70s influences he plays off on...Mr. Fear, The Enforcers, Dr. Faustus, Sharon Carter. Good stuff!

I agree that the Writing on these of both these Books, has really held My attention......but killing Steve Rogers was a BIG mistake, and a cheap Plot device.sigpic -
Steve Rogers will be back...the question is how long will they make us wait?Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

I think it will last the duration of Ed Brubaker's time on the title, and perhaps a little longer if the character does prove popular. Sales have risen, so I would assume that they would continue in this direction as long as they have financial incentive to continue in this direction and the creative team is still inspired by this particular status quo.
Certainly the supporting cast has proven strong enough to sustain the book in the past year or so without Cap with rising sales following the spike on the Cap Death Issue.
We all know Steve Rogers will be back eventually.

Anyone reading Brubaker's other titles right now?
I'm enjoying Iron Fist and Criminal.
Was a big fan of Gotham Central.
I like Uncanny X-Men, but I don't think it is anywhere near as strong as DD or Cap right now.Comment

I liked Brubaker on Gotham Central as well but somewhere along the way I lost track of the book and dropped it...not sure why...Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

I just came back from doing my laundry and took my latest stack and read issue 34 and it was good.I have hung in there with Cap for a few years now and this current run has been solid.Comment

I just finished reading issue 34 as well. Without question Brubake is a good writer and has reinvigorated the Captain America mythos. But I can't help but wonder when the "tease" will be over and the real Cap' will be back. The mechanics of this story runs somewhat like the death of Superman but with far better results. I guess at the end of the day no matter how far away a writer takes a character, they ultimately have to bring it all back home for the fans and perhaps that's why these stories happen. Some times we take our heroes for granted and sales suffer. When that happens, publishers seldom have a chose...kill 'em.Comment
