man, i havent read a spidey comic in like 10 years..so, im a little behind...lol...glad you all cleared it up tho, i was starting to worry about that....stupid marvel...the whole "john byrne" redoing the whole spidey universe back in the late 90's ruined a lot of stuff for me...

does anyone else know that gwen actually was dating norman osborn before she died..and apparently had twins from him...i read about it in one of the newer marvel universe books about spidey....weird...i dont know the exact "specifics", since i dont have the book in front of me....but anywho......i can look it up tomorrow for any nay sayers...joe.....

I've always thought that it was supposed to be Peter and Gwen. Gwen was more Betty/Mary Ann and Mary Jane was more Veronica/Ginger. Maybe that was why Gwen's death was so haunting and painful. Peter got over Liz Allen and Betty Brant. Somewhere or Somehow he had to knwo that neither one of those was going to work. But Gwen could have been the one. I would think that was why she died. A married Peter Parker/Spider-Man isn't as colorful or interesting. Kinda like Elongated Man - hey, what's he saying - is he crazy?!

I think it was established pretty firmly by Stan that Gwen was HIS girl. MJ was indeed the rebound, and the comics dealt with this in the 70s, it's why they didn't stay together. They were kind of shoehorned into marriage in the 80s, but I thought it worked pretty well.

But barring out of character writing and continuity retcons, Peter would have married Gwen had she lived. I have no doubt about that.

Mary Jane IS far to high Maintenance for Peter, let alone anyone. Everything I had ever read or watched about the character, she is always like "WAHHHH, WAHHHH, WAHHH , poor me me me" . Just look at her comment in Toyrooms pic . When Peter gets past her "looks" , & realizes just how self centered she is , as well as a serious control freak, & I think he dreams about the One that gotta way,.. in Gwen Stacey.

I would have to say MJ...they've been through so much more together, including marriage. Their love had more time to grow than he and Gwen.
