I was hoping we could get away from the curse of retelling the origin. I guess we're not there yet. Was hoping we could advance the concept instead of rehashing the same story. Will we see Lex and real estate again? I need to see something NEW please. And PLEASE OH PLEASE... GIVE US A CLEAN RED CAPE! This dirty burgundy color is for the birds.

Ok i've got to say I know a lot of people are going to hate because of another remake but, this generation does not have a superman movie to call their own and I think this movie looks amazing!!! being young the only superman I had growing up was Smallville which was amazing for what they could do on TV and then the flop of Superman Returns. There is always the christopher reeve movie but for my generation that movie is dated. Don't get me wrong it was a really good movie for it's time but for us we really need something new and following in the footsteps of The Dark Knight Trilogy this movie seems to be exactly what we need. In Nolan We Trust!

I'm old (well , 40+.. ), but I'm looking fwd to it. Trailer looks good!.

Understand the point about rehashing the origin - but IMO you have to start with the origin story as it's a new take on it (new costume, etc). , and technically, it has been almost 35 yrs since they had a movie with the origin .

Yeah, brighter red would have been nice... but I'm OK with the costume.

I did see lots of action, which is welcome after Superman Returns and its real-estate deals and super-stalking.

^Well, I think maybe the origin does need to be retold here. We haven't really seen it on the big screen since 1978...and Returns proved making a sequel to a dormant franchise isn't really the way to go either. A retelling gives us a clean break from the previous films.

This looks impressive. I can't really judge it too much. The flying effects look cool, although it saddens me that the graceful joy of Reeve's style of flying is lost to impressive effects nowadays. At least they didn't go nuts with the distortion waves ala Smallville.

I think Smallville's influence is pretty obvious here. Much more emphasis on the young Clark and the choices he makes determining his fate, and the world's fate.

Looks to be plenty of action. The suit doesn't look bad from the glimpses we get. Cavill looks pretty impressive.

My one question...does he ever wear the glasses? Or did they jettison that aspect as being too hokey?

Not to mention it looks like maybe this Superman will be less of deadbeat dad, to boot!!!!!

No emblem on the cape, gone with the shorts.

My only problem with an origin is we had ten years worth of it in Smallville. So the idea of Superman: The back story hasn't been dormant. But I understand what you're saying.

Both iconic elements which should be there, IMHO...

The shorts, I'm not too bothered about, though I would agree most people kinda miss it.

I do prefer the emblem on the cape, but over the years, there actually have been plenty of comics versions of Superman that have not had it on the cape.

Tru dat, but I think in the grand scheme of things, Smallville had a small audience compared the one WB needs to grab with a major motion picture. The same reason they never really considered upgrading the Smallville cast to the big screen.
