    DC redos

    So;

What DC characters HAVEN'T been redone lately? Most of the really odd ones come to mind. Folks like:

    -Scooter
-Super Hip (SOOOOOO disappointed he wasn't in that whole "Darkest Night" story.)
    -'Mazing Man
-Ambush Bug (is it POSSIBLE to reboot Irwin?)
-Starfire (the original; not the Titan.)
    -Claw
-Major Bummer (BEST superhero of the 90's!)
-Haywire (although I don't know if anyone really cared the first time.)
-The Green Team (wacky AND topical these days!)

A few of the oddballs came back in the 90's/early 00's but seem to have disappeared:

-Angel O'Day and Sam Simeon. (The Foglio storyline was AWESOME.... AND brought back the Inferior Five.)
-Prez and Brother Power got Vertigo'd in the 90's; but those stories were pretty blah and forgettable.
-I HEARD Space Cabbie came back a few years ago, as did Hercules but I never read the stories.
-Stanley and His Monster got a fantastic treatment by Foglio (and were TECHNICALLY made part of the Vertigo storyline.)
-Sugar and Spike appeared on the "Young Justice" cartoon.

And of course the licenses they'd have lost since the original books; stuff like:

    -Jerry Lewis
-Bob Hope. (Can you IMAGINE a "52" version of the old Bob Hope comic?!?!? Something else I'd totally read the hell out of!)

I was wondering this 'cos (as I mention a lot) I don't care so much for reboots. I'd MUCH rather see something new.... but if you MUST bring something back why not slip some different stuff in? A person only needs to read SO MANY Superman origins....

She is supposed to return in Keith Giffen's new "space" series called "Threshold"

    -Claw
A modern-day version apppeared in "Primal Force" (post-Zero Hour)

-Stanley and His Monster got a fantastic treatment by Foglio (and were TECHNICALLY made part of the Vertigo storyline.)
And that got rebooted shortly after by their appearance in Kevin Smith's "Green Arrow"

      >She is supposed to return in Keith Giffen's new "space" series called "Threshold"

Hmmmm.... I'm trepidaciously curious. Starfire seems to be the comic equivalent of the cult movie; most folks don't realize there was one before the Titan, and those that do absolutely loved her. I'd like to see who won the war.

      >And that got rebooted shortly after by their appearance in Kevin Smith's "Green Arrow"

Really? I haven't read it, but I'm scared 'cos the Foglio one was SO PERFECT! It explained how the original fit into the DC universe proper, it was surprising, it mentioned the Heterodyne Boys.... always fun.... and it was a bit of a noogie to them stodgy ol' Vertigo comics. (ALSO always fun.)

Basically the backstory for Stanley and His Monster in "Green Arrow" went like this....creepy devil-worshipping dude tried to conjur up a demon ("The Monster") to bond
with and instead it bonded with his grandson ("Stanley") who he was babysitting at the time. He kept his grandson locked up and eventually Stanley and the Monster escaped
and the Monster devoured the grandfather. The end...

Hmmmm.... that's kinda blah. Doesn't take the original series into account at all, and doesn't use any components of the characters at all.

Worse of all, no "have a nice day" stickers!

So.... Bucky O'Hare EXTREME!!!!!! Weird. Plus; Captain Carrot came back a year or two ago.

Does this mean "Threshold" is gonna be like them books they did a while back; where they'd take the name of a character and use it for a completely different character?

So, DC felt the need to rip off Rocket Racoon?

Red Claw, and Starfire were Both in a Few BoosterGold Books afew Years back ... , It was Actually Pretty Damn Cool.

I always liked DC's Punisher. Wild Dog.
I love the 80's books, and wish he would sorta come back, but not in the New 52.

Oh yeah, forgot about that arc! Dan Jurgens was doing some great stuff in "Booster Gold" and it was DC's best book at the time before corporate pulled out the rug and passed off the book to Giffen and DeMatteis. Jurgens took Booster with him to the Time Masters mini-series but once the new 52 was being planned that left the character and concept as it stood without a home...

I think DC expects Giffen to work the same magic on "Threshold" as he did when he worked on some of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" characters a few years back...
Since "GotG" are now primed to have their own Marvel movie....

Claw had a Wildstorm series a few years back too. It didn't last long.

Captain K'Rot?!? Is this a joke? Roy Thomas' ears must be smoking.

Was Starfire in Booster's title as well as Time Masters or just in that?
I gotta check out Threshlold if she's in it.
