    >It's Because Wolverine Sells. Thats why the Movies centered around him too.

Y'know... looking back I think part of it is that Wolverine is probably the most interesting member of the team.... The rest of them spend WAY too much time whining about their lives, and never really have anything going on. Of course I suspect it's a self perpetuating problem: Wolverine is popular, so they spend more time on him, which makes him more popular, so they spend MORE time on him, which makes him more popular....

... and eventually he has like, fifteen different origins....

Agreed, I think Wolverine is the most interesting X-Men as well. But I do believe that all the marketing that Marvel is doing with the character, these days anywho, is because of the late 80's & 90's where this character climed to "icon" hights. Everything this guy was in, people bought, so Marvel spent more time , money, etc on the character. Now he has more Action figures, statues, busts, than anyone else. He appears in more comicbooks every month, & has his own Movie comming out, & they should have called the X-men movies "Wolverine and the X-men" because thats pretty much what it was IMO. Today Wolverine is Marvel's biggest property next to Spidey of Course, that Marvel has. He has for sure become a house Hold Name. My Dad knows who he is,.. & when that happens, I know the character is an Icon.

So it would make sence to call the toon "Wolverine and the X-men" , because without Wolverine, the X-men would not be as popular.

Yeah I agree...Wolverine was definately the greatist NEW invention...when Marvel re-launched "The New X-Men" with Claremont & Cockrum.

I don't think it's any secret or mystery why Wolverine is so cool. He's the mysterious, coiled spring that you have no idea what he's going to do next. He could be your best friend or your worst enemy. He could blow cigar smoke in your face because he LIKES you. He's no boy scout. He's the kid who always seems to end up in detention. The original X-Men were just a little too squeeky clean-cut. Screw answering "What's the right thing to do?" Just do one thing and do it well - take out the opposition.

I think Wolverine is cool. I think we all look at Scott as if we we were alike. I've always liked Iceman's powers more.

              Hmmmm....

I think one of the PROBLEMS with Wolverine is that he also appeals to the 14-year old power fantasy that lurks in most comic fans; and a lot of the time THAT'S what they play up. Thanks to the zillion origins he also bounces back and forth between overexcitable psycho and cynnical but world-wise team leader.

...AND, characters like Wolverine work best as part of a team. A team where everybody else isn't THEM. The 90's had a whole heap of teams made of nothing but the angry loner. Thanks no doubt to Wolverine's popularity and a whole bunch of grown-up comic nerds producing books.
