Superman's robots

I've been looking at compilations of old Superman comics. I'm surprised that the TV show, cartoon or movies never used the concept of Superman making robots of him and Clark Kent so they can be seen together.

It wouldn't have taken more than a split screen most of the time to pull the robot doubles off and it makes the acceptance of those around Clark (except for some sneaking suspicians) that he is not Superman more believable if they do in fact see them together at times (not knowing that Superman has the advanced knowledge to make lifelike robots).

Actually,there is a Clark Kent robot on Superman:TAS. Just didn't use it until the end of the series.

The Superman robots actually showed up a lot in the pre-Crisis books. The reason they didn't cover for him as Clark is because (IIRC) air pollution made them go haywire and the only place they worked properly was in the Fortress.

I always liked a good ol' Silver Age story where Supes had to rely on the robots or Batman-in-disguise to help protect his ID.

Shame that the one time the robots return was in Graduation Day to use heat vision to "kill" Donna Troy...
