Just finished watching The Amazing Spider-Man on Blu-ray, and the making of documentary. What a fantastic film. The documentary gives a lot of insight into why they made a lot of the creative decisions they did...why the reboot, etc. Something I hadn't even considered was that an entirely new generation of kids weren't even born when the first Raimi film came out, so this is their introduction to Spider-Man.
I really liked the director also...very down to earth guy with a lot of respect for the responsibility he was given. From Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone's chemistry, to the more serious take on uncle Ben and aunt May, to the more practical stuntwork and return of mechanical web shooters, I really think this was a huge improvement over the original trilogy, and I can't wait for the next installment.
