Well, I guess that's it. The last remnants of the Superman we knew are gone. DC announced that to bring him more into the modern world, Clark Kent is quitting the Daily Planet to become an internet blogger or some such nonsense.

That's funny and it's not. It's pathetic and par for the course for the new 52, but I'm laughing on the inside. Maybe he could set up a Youtube channel where he punks other superheroes' rogues galleries. He could replace Captain Cold's toothpaste with Icyhot. He could Skype Metallo seconds before he crushes his skull. [email protected]. Yeah, DC. Go for it, be relevant. Let's get Supes a cool Kryptonian neck tattoo and some Jordans. Dude's gotta represent.I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand. -
My question would be, "Where is the friendships?" Without the Planet backdrop why and who would he hang out with? Seriously. No Daily Planet bullpen means no need for Jimmy or Perry White etc... might as wel just set up a twitter account #Superman-save-my-@**
And honestly how would this make him relevant to a young audience anyway? A grown man chatting on the net or writing towards the younger generation? Sure he did break away from the Planet for a TV stint once but that's just not the same. It's like he's being taken to far out of the norms / interaction with society that keeps him Human.
With all of these New 52 directions I fear that the much anticipated Justice League movie I've read about is seriously gonna suck. IMO all of the characters various idiosyncrasies are gonna lead to way too many 'forced' relationships. Since the lines of "good vs bad" are so grey now, I can't see how simply being "good" will work. This is DC not Marvel. I still stand by my own personal taste in that the DC characters don't and shouldn't be so grounded in reality. Again, just my two cents that amount to nothing more than this little rant.Comment

I'm not going to get into the right or wrong of him actually not working at the Planet, since this is a totally NEW Superman, despite what DC initially wanted you to believe. I do question why they had this Superman work at the Planet in the first place. To me it's another sign of bad management and hasty thinking for this relaunch.
Here are some comments from Scott Lobdell on this change:
