Warner Bros. gouging fans with the Dark Knight Returns DVD.

So I checked this out today, and as bad as I wanted to buy it, I refuse to play WB's game. There was absolutely NO reason to sell this as a "part 1" and "part 2" other than to gouge people. With a running time of less than 90 minutes for the first half, there's no reason they couldn't have put the entire movie on one disc. The price at Target was $17.98!! If part 2 costs the same, that's $36 for an animated movie?

It's the lowest form of thievery.

The DCU movies have all run about 70 minutes for around $15 or so. That's the price at Wal-Mart for DKR as well. It's the same as every other release.

I wish they had done the two part deal for New Frontier. It deserved another 70 minutes or so.

And you know down the line it will be re-released together at a lower price, too.

Ah, Hollywood. Where the magic happens. And by "magic," we usually mean overpriced crap homogenized to death by market studies. It turns out the dream factory that is the film industry is a business after all, and one with the kind of greed that puts Microsoft

Unfortunately that's why we don't have sequels to the Green lantern or Wonder Woman dvd's. Too many fans were buying it later. The execs said those dvd's made their money but too slowly to justify a sequel. I've been buying them out of support of the series. Not a huge price difference and I'd rahter see them sooner anyway.

The WORST one was DC's Watchmen Blu-Ray. I bought the "deluxe" or whatever it was edition at the time, and inside the package was...get this...a coupon for an "ultimate" edition coming out in a few months!
They may as well have put a note in there saying HA HA, SUCKER!

Y'know.... that IS pretty harsh. It's like they're not even TRYING to hide it any more.

I see the DVD everywhere for $14.99. Seems pretty reasonable for a new animated flick. I don't care about a Blu ray disc for animation. That picture is going to be great either way.

I don't care the cost of this one. It was a masterpiece and worth every penny I've spent. I've seen it three times since Tuesday and I want to see it again. I'm glad they did it in two parts. They're not gouging anybody! They wanted to do it right. If you watch this one you'll find it's a complete story. The next one will be the same. Had they condensed it to one movie it would have lost a lot of what makes it a great story.
