Professor X is one of those characters that writers seem to enjoy killing and bringing back repeatedly. It's what called a lack of imagination. Or conviction.

I don't really care anymore.
They've taken out the whole meaning of death (all the emotional punch), and now it's just the usual wait: dead this year, back in a couple of years when the "writers" get stuck.

He came back for like 3 issues ..., as a Dead Zombie in The X-mens version of Blackest Night. But because of his soooooo similar Brother Warpath ..., he sorta really only left till Warpath's intro in New Mutants.
