Can someone please explain this to me...

...Cause I just don't get it:

I do a semi regular check on finish auctions in the comic book section just to see what things go for just in case I'm out or come across deals on comics. I've never seen a Batman Adventures book go for that kind of money. Forget that it's CGC'd...what is the significance of the issue??

That's not the only anomaly I've come across....but it's one that caught me a little off guard. I can see if it was one bidder or bidders that are newbies to ebay...but there were 30 bids on this auction and 9 different bidders.

1st appearance of Harley Quinn seems to be the selling point.

Wow...I can't believe that it could command that kind of money. Guess I should start paying attention to stacks of those Batman Adventure Books if I ever see them. I think I have a few issues because I really liked Parobeck's art. He was really good on the first JSA book. Such a talent that died so young. Thanks for the info Mike.

Parobeck was an amazing artist. It's too bad he's no longer with us. Which might contribute to the value of the book as well. I have this one. I had no idea any of the Animated books would have any value beyond good reading.

          HOLY CRAP!
And to think that I used to have that issue and pretty much gave it away years ago.

I think the Batman and Superman Adventures comics were some of the most solid Batman and Superman comics in the nineties, during a time when Superman was dead or running around with a mullet and Batman was going from one broken back stunt to another.

Parobeck and Ty Templeton's long run on Batman animated comics were really unfairly ignored by much of the mainstream because of the stigma animated tie in comics had up until that Point. Paul Dini and Bruce Timm also often would do creative on these books as well. Mark Miller pre-authority and Ultimates Run on Superman Adventures was also ugly underrated.

Folks really should check these comics out. Very solid reads for anyone who isn't necessarily on board the new 52.

Mad Love was the one that caught me by surprise. I'm saying content wise. Would not have thought they would hint at the fact Harley slept with her professors to get her degree.
