As much as I'm irritated by the the DCnU, I have to say Green Lantern Annual 1 and GL 11 and 12 were pretty good reads, especially the GL annual 1. Van Sciver penciled it and it really worked for me. Yes, it's as much of a set up as anything else for the Gls' battle with this Third Army, but it was really solid. It had direct ties to Blackest Night. Have no clue where all of this is going, but this was a good comic.
While I find the plodding pace of Justice League a little too slow and extended, I did like the conclusion of the story and I bought the budding romance between Superman and Wonder Woman as presented. The stories Johns told in a year, he probably could have executed just as well in two 3-parters, but again I did like the conclusion and the point of the story.
I have to say I like the way Johns writes Batman. He's not the emotionally distant, paranoid jerk as characterized too often in comics the last 20 years. More like the pre-Crisis Batman. I like my Batman written as extremely driven but not cold and near insane. I've always felt to do what Batman does a man would need a big heart and that would be seen when he's not dealing with criminals.
