Well it appears the idea of Nolan and Bale coming into a Justice League movie are ill founded rumors. Thank God! Keep kicking that can down the road.

Goyer video about MOS
Nothing new but it's from the horse's mouth

^^^ I think it's nearly impossible to draw anything from that interview outside of what you choose to believe from the innuendo. Without question Goyer is a gifted writer. And he's attached to some of my favorite films of the last few years. He's also tied to films I hated like "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance". So who knows? Maybe Man of Steel will completely blow me away. But based on what I like about Superman, I'm not seeing much in these trailers or the discussed treatment to inspire me. My gut feeling is it's going to be weighed down with too much back story rooted in his origin. I'm just not ready to go through another orphan cycle again with Clark Kent. That's already been done the best it will ever get done with the first film. And every conceivable story leading up to Clark donning the cape was told for ten years on Smallville. It's time for Superman to have a life outside of his humble beginnings. But regardless, I'll be there opening weekend and hope for the best. It would be nice to see Superman find his own movie series again. If I like it, I'll be right here rooting him on.Last edited by MIB41; Apr 2, '13, 8:28 PM.Comment

^I have similar sentiments. I've kinda resigned myself to the thought that my preferred version of Superman and Batman probably won't ever make it to the screen.
With all adaptatations, I try to take them and enjoy them for what they are rather than what I'd like them to be. It's tough. I couldn't do it for Superman Returns because its messages were too hamfisted, all the homages to the original flim made me think about that movie instead of being drawn into the new film and there just wasn't enough action.
So I'll probably be disappointed by this one, too, but maybe I can find something about it that I'll like.
The DC animated shows are about as close to what I'd like to see out of Superman and Batman on the screen.Comment

Here's an article on Man of Steel from composer Hans Zimmer's perspective. It gives some hints at the tone of the film and sounds promising.

Thanks for the posting! Based on Zimmer's insight and the story synopsis now shown on the backer cards for the figures (imagine that), it appears we have what on the surface anyway looks like "Smallville meets Superman II". The trick is just how heavy handed they get on the moralistic side of Superman and where that comes from. The Zod angle appears to be similar to Superman II. He breaks free of the Phantom zone and comes to earth with a chip on his shoulder for Jor-El, but is more than happy to take it out on Kal-El. Familiar territory. So how director Snyder handles these themes and whether he can bring a fresh approach to them will play big time in how this film is received. Hopefully Snyder does not get too pretentious in exploring Superman's search for the morality of justice. That within itself can become a lumbering plot point that gets old quickly. I'd rather not have Superman played out as a Jesus figure. You're bordering on camp there.Last edited by MIB41; Apr 10, '13, 7:00 AM.Comment
