Oh Jesus, not again with your "row, row, row your boat gently down the stream" Star Trek V, what a horrid movie, the worst Star Trek film or episode ever, you have all this technology, yet the ship is captured by Spock's half brother and his armada of half a dozen people, lol.

My view is Superman 3-4 were better than Returns because they were Christopher Reeve

On that same note I think Star Trek 5 was better than ANY Next Generation movie.

I like what Chris said about Returns as well. I liked the film but Singer kind of painted the franchise into a corner with it. I feared a sequel was going to be all about his son.

Cavill looks great as Superman. He looks strong and powerful; like he could really kick some ***. Though why is Zod wearing a combination of the Iron Man armor and Brainiac?

In a way, III and Returns are a lot alike. They both have some really good moments, but the overall idea of the film is very flawed, and not the kind of Superman movie anyone wanted to see at the time. III is too much of a straight comedy (and an unfunny one at that) and Returns is too introspective and emo.

Well said Chris. The latter explanation on Returns is what has me concerned about Man of Steel. From what I can see, it looks like a movie that's going to spend too much time setting up Zod's angst with Jor-El; Clark growing up; and I guess his justification for dawning the cape. There's SO MUCH exposition right there, it doesn't really leave much time for Superman except for a predictable, knock down, fight with Zod to settle the score. In short, it has too many story points going on. Something has to suffer, and my guess is it will be Superman. Just for once, I would like to see a film that gives us Superman established and not lost in some quest to understand why he wears the cape. It's the one thing I can say about Superman III and IV that Returns and maybe this new one can't figure out...Let Superman be Superman.

As a huge Supes fan, it pains me to say this, and I love Chris Reeve dearly, but Superman 3 & 4 sucks, sorry.

The Quest for Peace wasn't that bad (it helped that Reeve was involved with the story). It was way better than 3 story/quality wise, but the special effects are the worst out of all of them. Personally, I thought it got the Superman series on the right track again (they made the tone dark and serious again, Luthor was a mad scientist like it the comics, Lois Lane was brought back, etc. Plus, the references to 1 & 2 were cool I thought). If the effects were better, then I feel that it would’ve been received more positively. But yeah, I agree that 3 sucked (except for the Junkyard scene, that was pretty cool).
