R.I.P. Aquaman: Norman Alden Dies at 87

I just read on Super Hero Hype that Norman Alden, the first and fan favorite voice of Aquaman from the SuperFriends died at the age of
    87. He only voiced over Aquaman on the first series with Wendy and Marvin and the All New SuperFriends Hour in 1977. Other than that, he reprised the role for some Cartoon Network promos in the 90's. But he was also a character actor who was in a multitude of TV shows and movies. I remember him as the diner owner in Back to the Future. I've seen him in the Dukes of Hazzard, Dallas, and Starsky and Hutch as well as Adam 12 and other shows I can't recall.
Here's an interesting note: Norman played opposite Jim Davis as Jock Ewing on the 3rd episode of Dallas back in 1978. A few years before that, Alden was the voice of a circus ringmaster named Hank on a Hanna Barbera cartoon called Devlin in 1974. Alden's character Hank looked dead on like Dallas's Jim Davis in appearance, which I found ironic. Hank looked lanky like Jock Ewing, same face, and even wore the same type of Western Hat. Devlin was probably based off Evel Knievel. Ernie Devlin was voiced over by fellow SuperFriends voice actor Michael Bell and The Monkees Mickey Dolenz was on that series too.
Anyway, Norman Alden was (and still is) my favorite version of Aquaman. It's a shame Hanna Barbera cut him loose after 1977. You will be missed.

He was also a fine, solid character actor.

I knew there was one particular show I remembered him from, but had to peruse IMDB to figure it out. Streets of San Francisco! I loved that show.

I've seen and like Norman on a lot of old movies and tv shows I watch and let's also remember he was a regular on Electro Woman and Dyna Girl too. RIP.

His voice IS Aquaman. And I loved Professor Frank Heflin.

Too bad, I remember he was cool enough to do an intro for the aquaman shrine too.
