Really wish the extra material shown at comic-con was attached because the trailer as shown there and in the theater is pretty underwhelming to me. We see men fly in movies all the time. I need something more to get me excited.

I'm sure we will get the the polished version later in the year with the actual music they will use in the movie........it's just a teaser, Honestly I like the idea of a build up to excitement, not give it all to me in one shot

If you remember the Superman 78 teaser showed nothing but graphics and footage from an airplane with dramatic music when I saw it as a kid I went bat**** over it.......

It's sort of a teaser of a Teaser Trailer. There will be more trailers for the movie that are not as low key so it's hard to make any judgement based on this. I was a bit annoyed that I didn't get to see it last night with The Dark Knight Rises but at least I got see the trailers for Skyfall and The Hobbit.

I know it was just a teaser, but to me what was shown left me neither intrigued nor excited. Half the footage looks like an artsy laundry detergent commercial, while the rest looks like clips from Deadliest Catch. When the most vocal complaint about Superman Returns was that there was not enough action, I don't get going with the whole somber, home-spun, loner angle right out of the gates. I don't want them to give the story away, but I would like to see Superman doing something super. The flight scenes from Chronicle were more exciting than what was shown. I've still got great hope for the film, but Warners' track record has me apprehensive. More power to those who liked or loved the teaser. I hope I'm just being a wet blanket.

THe flying sequence looks great, hope the rest of the film looks as good. Sucks that we are getting an origin tale AGAIN. From that little bit it looks like it might mirror Batman Begins in structure and basic journey to becoming the hero plot.

It did seem kind of subdued for a Superman movie trailer.

However, the part where we see Superman rocketing skyward was awesome, and the glimpse we got of him hitchhiking north, presumably to the Arctic and the Fortress of Solitude, was cool.

(A few shots of the epic vistas of Kansas would have been a little more reassuring, rather than those clips of Clark working aboard a trawler. I guess in the movie he gets that job after he leaves home, but before he becomes Superman.)

I'm guessing the next few trailers they release for it will show significantly more Super action.

Looks like they are borrowing a bit from Superman: Birthright, with Superman's travels abroad. I'm guessing John's and Frank's Secret Origin will be tapped, given Johns' connection to screenwriter Goyer, and Goyer writing the intro to the TPB of Secret Origins.

The flying sequence was sweet, the rest was just a tease...but that was the point.

I was totally unimpressed by the teaser...There was nothing about it, not even the short flying sequence, that hooked me...They're gonna hafta do better this early in the game to get me interested in something I've had some doubts about so far. I know I'll see the movie but at this point I'm not busting at the seams about it...

I'm pretty sure it's purpose was to let people know there was another Superman movie coming. I've been watching it at work and listening to the crowds comments. People like us know there is a Superman movie coming out, but the regular people (muggles) don't. I heard things like "oh hey! A new Superman movie!" and "hun, I bet you can't wait for that!".

                      It's getting a positive reaction.

I think you're right. It is easing the non-fans into the idea of a new Superman film. I saw the teaser pre-TDKR and we had the version with the Russel Crowe voice-over, apparently this is the "international' version. I think it works a bit better than the Costner one posted above, although they both have the same tone.

We had the Russell Crowe voiceover version with the exact same footage in front of our IMAX DKR screening.

LOL! It's so funny you said that! I thought the trailer was super-boring, and even told my wife, I would have spliced in the backyard laundry scene from "IT" with Pennywise the Clown just to spruce it up...
THAT trailer would have been epic...can you just imagine younger people that haven't seen "IT" going "What the hell was up with that creepy clown?!"

You can certainly see Nolan's influence...a Superman flick which feels very Dark Knight...something out of the norm...and something that I accept, and looking forward to.

I dig both voice over's...Russell Crowe as Jor-El...and Kevin Costner as Pa Kent...I think both were perfectly cast in their respective roles.
