    top superhero movies

    I updated a list i made a year ago
these are adjusted for inflation numbers.

Do your favorites agree with where people put their money?

    Spider-man $466
    Batman (1989) $422
    Spider-man 2 $402
    Superman (1978) $384
    Sider-Man 3 $337
    Batman Forever $283
    Batman Returns $263
    Superman 2 $261
    X-Men the Last Stand $240
    X2$239
    Batman Begins$215
    Superman Returns $205
    X-Men $196
    Fantastic Four $162
    Batman and Robin $157
    Hulk $147
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer $132
    Superman 3 $128
    Ghost Rider $116
    Daredevil $114
    Blade $100

    Non Marvel DC:

    The Incredibles $269
    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles$205
    The Mask $197
    Mask of Zorro$128
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 $125

    under 100mil M:

    Blade 2
    Blade Trinity
    Punisher
    howard the duck
    elektra

    under 100mil DC:

    Superman IV
    Supergirl
    Catwoman
    Steel

    Under 100m non DC/M
    Spawn
    Crow
    Phantom
    and many sequels

Adjusted for inflation these numbers are still misleading - worldwide gross usually makes the films profitable and merchandising puts them up more.

Some have such big budgets and they do so poorly that they are still flops at nearly 150 million dollars B&R, Hulk.
Movies like DD cost little to make comparatively.

The best return on a comic film may be Teenage MNT (1990) it cost 13.5 to make, drew in 205 at the box office world wide, have twice that in merchandise and spawn several sequels.

I can't believe X-Men: The Last Stand made more money than Batman Begins. I'm also surprised that Blade 2 made under $100 Mil. i thought that was a well done sequel.

I remember the line I stood in with my Brother for Batman 89. It was out the Door, & around the entire theater. However when it was all done & over with, it was worth it.

It is kinda impressive that some of the older Movies are holding up with Movies today. I mean Tickets were like 3bucks, & 1.25 for kids..., When I go to the Movies today With the Boy & the Spouse, I spend just under 30 bucks to see the movie, let alone another 25 for food & refreshments.

Guessing Hellboy isn't considered a superhero. That movie's in my top 3 comic/superhero movies along with Batman Begins and The Incredibles.

Same thing here on opening day....unfortunately the group I was going with couldn't get their act together in time and when we finally moved up in line and were next to pass the entranceway into the actual theatre they shut the door and said "SOLD OUT!". I was p.o.'ed the whole ride home and had to go back the next day to see it. Still worth it though! I saw it 3 more times that summer.

I would definitely call Hellboy a superhero movie. It just wasn't listed in the 100 million movies on The Numbers and I forgot about it.
I'm sure I left off others too. Some accidentally / some I just wasn't sure about the superhero definition eg LoEG, Unbreakable are a couple.

                I love Hellboy too.

Oh yeah I forgot to list Batman: Mask of the Phantasm in the under 100mil group. -One of my all time favorites.

They should give every person who paid to see this movie every single solitary dime back. I can't believe it made that much!
