Has anyone watched the new "Spiderman Unlimited" cartoon? Thoughts?

I have to say that I really like both the character design and the animation, especially the way they do Spidey's eyes, which are reminiscent of the 60's series. However, then you get to the storytelling...which is horrible. To make matters worse, the "breaking down the 4th wall" gimmick got old in a hurry for me. Basically, what they do is have everything stop on screen and then Spidey turns, addresses the viewers and says something like, "you know, Wolverine is one of the X-Men. He has an unbreakable skeleton and claws!" etc., etc. Did I mention that this happens several times every episode? Ugh.

If they canceled "Spectacular Spider-Man" for this, I really shudder to think what they are going to replace the very entertaining "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" with.

Yea, the 4th wall gets a bit annoying but on the whole I've enjoyed watching it. Agreed, not as good a Spectacular Spider-man.

      The new Ultimate Spider-Man series?
I have mixed feelings about it. I like the look of it, but I'm not too keen on the over-the-top character intros and them breaking the fourth wall constantly. Seems like there's a little too much humor going on. It'll be interesting to see how it develops.

It's not bad, but the constant 4th wall breaking and over the top humour does get old pretty fast. Don't like how they have Spidey as part of a "youth" team either... always like him working alone best.

It's about on a par with the Spider-Man Unlimited show from 1999, but not as good as 2008's Spectacular Spider-Man.

Still prefer the 60/70s show, plus the 80s version that aired about the same time as Amazing Friends... and of course, the 90s series was great.

        Hmmmm....

It's.... okay. Cheap, but effective animation; decent writing and acting. A lot of it feels familiar though.... and I'm lukewarm on the "everyone works for SHIELD" thing Marvel has been developing. I hate how every new iteration of any established superhero property invariably ties EVERYTHING together; even when such things once had separate origins. (So.... in the 90's cartoon everything happened 'cos of the Kingpin. Currenty everything in the Spideyverse ties back to Norman Osbourne.) It makes the setting feel small.

My son loves it, but after a few episodes, I just didn't care to keep up with it. But it's a good show for kids. I think if they balanced it out with more serious moments it would help keep parents and adults engaged. Teen Titans did this very well.

I've warmed up to it a bit, but they absolutely positively ruined Doc Ock. He's a greasy long haired quadriplegic who's helpless without his arms, which were invented by Norman Osborne? UGH.

I just don't care for this version of Luke Cage or Iron Fist. Avengers:Earth's Mightiest Heroes did a better job with them.

Yes it did. I think the Avengers is my fave.... by far.... of the current superhero cartoons.

Yeah, I am also a big fan of the Avengers 'toon. Still very disappointed it was canceled.
