I don't know how to make this a poll or I would. I'm just curious how many of you guys that grew up on comics and love them actually buy comics regularly. I guess--and this is not counting trades--the last time I bought an actual comic was Brave and the Bold (Vol. 2) #32, back in early 2010. No, come to think of it, I bought Dynamite's Lord of the Jungle #1 late last year. So, do you still hit the LCS every Wednesday or pick them up from time to time in the grocery store if something catches your eye, or do you just buy trades of reprints for the most part?

I was buying mostly DC comics, and quit cold turkey a few years back. I just didn't care for the direction of the line overall. I was buying them and not reading them. The joy is gone from DC. It's too grim and concerned with being "hip and edgie". It's a universe of Poochies now.
I do pick up an occasional floppy comic here and there, but it's mostly back issues and TPBs now.

...I was Buying like 25 Tittles a Month Before the New 52 ... Maybe even more.
Almost all DC ..., Marvel Axed Dark Avengers, and The 1st Revamp X-Force, and I lost interest in Hulk.
I haven't boughten a Book in Like 4 Months ....
I do hope to get caught up on The Green Lantern Titles, and Aquman again ...., But have little interest in anything Else. The New 52 Has finally sorta ruined comics for me.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
always trading for Hot Toys Figures .Comment

Due to circumstances i dropped my hold list from about 10 to 1 and a miniseries. the fact that the stories aren't as good didn't help.
Buti am loving getting DC Archives of the stuff from the 40's,60's and 70's."Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of DoomComment

I hit the comic shop every week, but my buying is down to about 1/4 of what is was a year ago. I dropped almost every DC title after the reboot. I buy no Marvels, mostly just a handful of indy titles. I got really put off by the constant Event Comics Marvel's been running, and I tried the new 52 but it wasn't for me. I want to like the Dynamite revamps of all the classic characters, but they drag the storylines out too long for my taste, plus the infinite tie-in series & variant covers. That killed the John Carter books for me just last week. Stopping in to get my pull books and finding 4 titles that all looked & read exactly alike made me realize I wasn't enjoying it, so I dropped them all.
I still give things a try now & then, but mostly when I come across a quarter box or flea market deal.Comment

I still buy about 30 regular series a month, but that's down from about 50 around three years ago. I find most of what I read fun or at least OK, but there is no series out that right now that just has me really excited. Archives and Masterworks probably get me more excited than anything.
Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Flash are my favorite DC books at the moment, while Dare Devil, Iron-Man and the green Hulk book are my favorite from Marvel.
I'm not a big indy reader, although occasionally I'll find something I like, mainly in trade format. To me comics are super heroes. I know that's a myopic view that isn't necessarily good for the industry, but I prefer drama, mystery, westerns, horror, sci-fi and fantasy in novel, film or TV form.Last edited by madmarva; Jul 15, '12, 11:34 AM.Comment

I buy the occasional trade of something I want to read, mostly Goon, Hellboy, Batman Inc, Umbrella Academy as far as current stuff. I mostly pick up Masterworks and DC Library stuff from the big two. My head is in the past and can't get excited about most of the output from them. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. I don't buy new comics, but I do still buy silver age marvel and once in a while a nice golden age comic if I have a little extra cash. I tried the newer comics and they just don't have the same appeal for meComment

I do buy comics, just whatever looks good to me. Mostly old stuff though, not that many recent ones. I actually ordered Spider-Man/Kingpin: To The Death on Amazon. Looking forward to reading it.sigpic

I buy nothing new for myself from DC or Marvel except 70's and 80's back issues that I'm missing or want to read. Love and Rockets is the only book for me worth while to read....I buy Betty and Veronica for my Daughter and whatever kiddie comics she wants...Comment
