I've learned not gripe about these suits much. I'm usually proven wrong when I see it in action (Captain America, new Spider-Man, heck Batman Begins). I never did quite warm up to the Returns costume though.

I think I said this here before, but that new Spider-man costume looks like a dirty basketball.

I'm not a fan of the new suit, but I understand why they feel the need to tinker with it.

Whenever I see one of those rubber suits, I think about how much they must stink at the end of the day, and it kind of ruins the illusion.

I think a rubber superhero suit looks more dated and less alein in a steampunk kind of way.

For futuristic modern they need to use something that's not in style and even uncool - like spandex

Yet somehow Ma Kent was able to sew that indestructible suit...

Oh and Chris Reeve's Superman suit was pitch-perfect, but so was the actor in it. Not many could pull that suit off. Dean Cain always seemed very uncomfortable as Superman, for instance.

    Exactly.

Spandex just doesn't translate well in today's modern flicks with modern audiences.

Funny how many of us initially hate all the new introductory costumes, Batman, Spidey, X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, different Hulk versions, and so on...but at the end of the day...most of us geeks end up liking the flick...and the costume turns out to be a mere afterthought.

Having said that...Chris Reeve's suit is the best of them all.
