Just in time for the 4th of July...My latest Original Art Grail

I LOVE Alan Davis' artwork. Had the opportunity to pick up the ENTIRE ISSUE from Cover to last page preliminary Pencils for Issue Number 6 of Captain America. Not a fan of prelim penciled art...but I couldn't pass this up. Had a very good MegoMeet and decided to give myself this present:

Cap 6 Prelim Pencil Cover a.jpg

It's DEFINITELY my GRAIL in my collection. Just have the one page scanned for now. More to come. Happy 4th of July everyone.

Their eyes can't hope to see
    The beauty that surrounds them
    Isn't it a pity".

Pretty neat. I like seeing the difference in where he had the character's eyes focused between the sketch and the final cover.
    It's all good!

wow, that is really cool. An entire issue, what is that 36 pages total? I have a few original comic pieces framed and hanging on the wall, what's your plan for a full comic?

These days the comic books have shrunk. Counting the cover, the total pages are 21. As for displaying it...just penciled pages are not really suited for being displayed. Penciled art fades over time. That was one of the 1st things I learned when I started getting into original comic art. It's one of the reasons that I don't like to buy just penciled pages. I definitely plan on putting them in a art portfolio by itself. Something like this one:

I plan on getting another copy of Cap 6 and taking it apart. Have the printed page on one side and the prelim on the other.

Does anyone know if there's a way to display penciled pages in a frame without having them eventually fade??

I've have a Mike Grell penciled sketch of Green lantern framed since 1993 and it looks as good as it did when I had it framed. It's been in rooms with no sunlight and framing was professionally done. I don't know if anything special was done to it. I may have just been lucky.

I do have a framed Superman sketch where some of the finer ink faded, but I think it had to do with the pen used not the framing because the bolder lines were done with a different pen and haven't faded.
