Spiderman pulls in $7.5 million from midnight shows

That's about 40% of the Avengers midnight draw. But then again no one would consider this film a contender against the Avengers anyway. Descent number though. That will likely give him an opening day number between $25 -$30 million. But based on advance ticket sales, Spidey will need to get the bulk of it's business done before the mammoth Dark Knight Rises comes to town in two weeks. Theaters are adding screens because the pre-sell response is so high. It will also be interesting to see if Ice Age 4 challenges Spidey next week given it's popularity and the amount of money it made it's opening weekend overseas ($80.3 million compared to Spidey's $51.1 million). Emeraldknight and I will be checking out ASM tomorrow.

My son went to see it last night with his buddies and he said it was better than the first three......I'm gonna see it tomorrow with the wife and my little one....

Honestly I don't give a rats *** how much money it makes or if it's competing with Batman....all i want is a good movie so I can enjoy with my family.......I ain't seeing a dime come my way so numbers mean zero to me.....

I wouldn't call it a family movie, though, unless your kids are 12 and up

I took my 4 year old out of neccessity (my mother in law took ill at the last minute, and my son was chomping at the bit to go, so I made the call to take her). Other than a few scenes where I covered her eyes, she was fine and enjoyed it, but your mileage may vary. I honestly felt it was less violent than the Raimi movies.
