Love that art. Isn't that Perez? That style was always one of my favorites. I was eight in '84 and the Super Powers toys were the greatest thing to happen to me since Megos and I loved them. I still have many of them now. I loved the card art. -

Love the 70s and early 80s DC style guides. Without a doubt the definitive versions of the characters, for me.
And José Luis García-López is a true master.

I started drawing seriously when I was about 8 and it was the Super Powers art that I was learning from. I love it still to this day. It's the iconic DC to me.Comment

I feel that these are the versions when the characters were the most fully realized WITHOUT crossing over into boundaries they were never intended to be taken across. I have enjoyed many of the more mature stories of these characters, but there is a part of me that feels that it was a mistake to leave the classic example in the dust. There is nothing here that violates the original concepts of the characters, but yet they are attractive to modern audiences. DC still uses this artwork on many products today.
