    This Is WAR!

Speculation is that these teasers refer to the previously announced "The Ultron War":

And of course, being an Avenger, Wolverine is thrown into the mix...

After this Bendis goes off to play with the X-Men. Within the next year or so, I'm predicting a return to a much more traditional Avengers line-up, particularly with the success of the Avengers movies given renewed popularity to Cap, Hawkeye, Thor, Iron Man et al. The added sales boost they got adding in Wolverine and Spider-man was of course the product of Spider-man and Wolverine starring in high profile movies a decade ago, before Tony Stark and co hit the big screen.

For some reason I thought "AvX" was Bendis' swan song with Earth's Mightiest Heroes...

        Hmmmm....

Didn't they just do something like this a couple years back?

Y'know.... it almost seems like the Biggish Two are slipping into doing stories the way the old Judge Dredd series worked: every year, half the run of the comic would be based around that year's big event. The advantage with Dredd was in not having to buy ten different comics just to finish the story.

            And now Black Widow

Apparently this is NOT The Ultron War but a new "Punisher War Zone" series coming in October. Ugh! The Punisher isn't even of the same "caliber" as The Avengers.

The over use of the Punisher in the 80s was one of the things that drove me from Marvel.

The character is fine on his own but a character like Spider-Man could break every bone in his body, so I never saw the appeal of putting them up against each other.

Like when they killed him off and then he became an "Angel of Death"? (Although I think that was in the 90s...)

Angel of Death, huh. Maybe they should have had a crossover with the Spectre.

What about the crazy bit about the Punisher getting carved up by Wolverine's son and becoming a Frankenstein-like character? How'd they retcon THAT out?

But, as stupid as all of that was, it did address someone with a gun going up against a super-powered character, per Brian's comments before.

I do agree that Punisher works best when he is on the fringe of the Marvel Universe. Efforts to bring him in tighter have almost always failed.

The Bloodstone restored him to humankind. Frankencastle was one fun read, wish they would have let him kill that idiot son of Wolverine, tho.
