Metal men wouldnt be to bad. I would like to see Warlord myself.
There really NEEDS to be someone at WB looking at how terrible the comics division has become though and clean up the mess. Bring in some good veterans and fix it!Comment

Hmmmm....
I dunno. It's an odd choice, but it's nice to see some of the other characters.... who aren't Batman or Superman.... get some play. There's a lot they could do with them; a lot of new ground they could cover.
I DO wonder what the pitch was. There hasn't been anything similar to hit lately, and big studios don't go for the "different" thing so much. Maybe it was sold as "they're like the alien goo from Prometheus, but funny." Or maybe "they're like that liquid guy from the Terminator sequel everyone liked.... except there's a bunch of them, and one's a chick!"

Unfortunately, unless they put a co-production or co-distribution deal together, part of the reason Marvel overall is doing so much better (the Avengers streak being the kickass exception) is that their properties are split across a few studios while DC is stuck with just Warner Brothers. We're seeing Marvel properties as multiple tent-poles over the summer months (Avengers and Amazing Spidey this year, Cap/Thor and X-Men last year). WB will choose ONE... Batman this year, Green Lantern last year, Superman next, and it's not always guaranteed to be a DC property (Harry Potter previous years).Comment

Ed, The GL movie and the final Harry Potter film came out in the same summer.
But, I agree that Warner isn't likely to put out a Wonder Woman and Flash film in the same summer, but it might do a summer/Christmas release which was the plan this year for Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel until the GL film flopped and the sequel wasn't greenlit for the summer of 2013. Warner moved Man of Steel back to fill the tent pole gap.
But, it might put out a traditional super-hero film and something less traditional like Metal Men, which could be played to a Pixar-type audience as others suggested. Getting a Pixar-quality script would be the challenge.
It will be interesting to see if Warner pushes a JLA movie out in 2013 before the Avengers sequel and to go head to head with Ironman 3 in summer or Thor at Christmas, or if it goes with Wonder Woman or Flash or its next incarnation of Batman. I've always thought spinning heroes out of a JLA movie as being less risky for Warner than following Marvel's movie path. See which character, if any, clicks with the general public and move on from there. Warner could go with an actor rather than a star in the roles of WW, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg or Martian Manhunter and then make them a star if their character breaks out. The idea that origins must be told first is shortsighted. Few comic reader's first experience with a character is the origin, but they still catch on.
I would go see a Metal Men movie, but it doesn't really excite me.Comment
