Is Ultimate Human a homage to Iron Many #131-133?

This was always one of my favourite runs of Iron Man as a kid. I particularly loved The Incredible Banner.

I have to wonder if Ultimate Human is a nod to this classic storyline given the fact that both involve Banner coming to Stark to try and find a cure for his condition.

Would proberly be a lot poorer than those originals if the first issue was anything to go by.

I tend to ignore anything with the word Ultimate in the title.

I think Ultimate FF and X-Men have had too many cooks in the kitchen during their run and has become much too convoluted unto themselves.

I know The Ultimates is probably a matter of taste given the kind of liberties they take with the characters, although I'm a fan of the Millar/Hitch run.

I think you are missing out on some great stuff in the pages of Ultimate Spiderman. Until recently, it was arguably more "iconic" than the regular mainline Spiderman. Although it updates the environment and characters, I think it really does capture the spirit of the character of a young man trying to find his place in the world. Some things like the Green Goblin don't really work for me, but then there are other times where I'm astounded at how close it does come to certain origianl storylines.

I read all the same storieswhen they were done by Steve, Jack, and Stan. Isn't Marvel able to do any fresh storytelling without retreading the originals?? I guess not, given the current mess that Spidey, Cap and the Avengers are in.
