Classic Silver Age Concepts You Really "Dig"!

    I'll start you off....

    - Matt Murdock's other "secret identity"...his brother Mike Murdock (the swingin' cat who also wears sunglasses all the time, but not because he's blind but because he's soooooo cool!). Rumor has it that Mike Murdock is secretly Daredevil!

    - The Bottle City of Kandor...cause c'mon, how many of us are just dying to have a little jar of Kryptonians (non-powered) lying around in our Fortress of Solitude?

    - The JLA/JSA team-ups when they were an annual thing to look forward to every year between July and October, instead of the almost weekly team-up occurances we see nowadays.

"Catch All" Books that tried new things like Showcase, sometimes it was to debut a new hero (Animal Man) or a toy tie in (GI Joe), a crime title (Johnny Double) or even a movie adaptation (Dr No). I miss that kind of variety in comics.

      - I liked some of DC off-beat, oddball teams like The Challengers of The Unknown, Doom Patrol and Metal Men. Granted, they weren't A-listers like the JLA but you could always count on them to get the job done when there was a crisis.

        - Barry Allen...aka The Silver Age Flash. I've grown to like Wally West since he inherited the mantle about 23 years ago (WOW!) but to me the iconic Flash will always been Barry Allen, drawn by either Carmine Infantino (1st run, not so much the 2nd 80s version) or Irv Novick.

          Bottled City of Kandor.

          Bizarro World.

          Super Pets.

The concept of Kid sidekicks from a more innocent time, without the uncomfortable sexual subtext (although I guess that was around prior to the Silver Age wasn't it? Or Wertham wouldn't have been able to feed off of it).

The whole Bat-Family. Bat Hound, Bat-Mite, Batwoman and Girl. Teams of freaks like the Doom patrol and the XMen. DC's adventure type teams like the Challs, Sea Devils, Secret Six, Task Force X/Suicide Squad. The fact that every one of Marvel's super characters had some sort of flaw either emmotional or physical.

              - I liked DC's "mystery" books before they were actually mystery books...stuff like "House of Secrets" and "House of Mystery" with features such as "Dial H for Hero", "John Jones Manhunter From Mars", "Eclipso", "Prince Ra-Man", "Mark Merlin".

Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen. Those oddball stories are so much fun.

peter parker worrying about grades and keeping his job while saving the city.

Gotta agree about the JLA jsa teamups (most of the time I only bought JLA for the teamups)

DC giant size editions and annuals reprinting comics from the early silver and golden age (batman & flash especially)

I guess I'll also add Hal Jordan becoming the Green Lantern to that as well.

I always looked forward to those. They would split into little groups and you got to see characters interact with other heroes.

The JLA characters seemed so exotic to me. Some I knew very little about, but I decided that they were cool based on name or costume.
