I agree that Babs became way more interesting as Oracle but I really enjoyed both Cassandra and Stephanie as Batgirl. Especially Steph because she's so fun. Almost a little like Spider-man but without the emo moments.

    Favorite issues:

Transformers #16 (Marvel). Bumblebee is being hunted by most of the Decepticon army. He's completely unable to transform and he's just been "stolen" by some car thieves.

Impulse #3. All Bart Allen had to do is go to school and make a new friend. Instead he manages to tick off most every kid in school and a small riot erupts over who gets to beat him up first.

X-Men #8 (Jim Lee). Gambit and Rogue finally go on a date. Bishop is convinced that Gambit is the X-Traitor in the future and ruins the date by trying to kill him. Rogue gets a kinetically charged pie in the face.

Batgirl #14. Batgirl (Steph) and Supergirl go to the movies. I love when heroes do normal things. Too bad it usually ends badly. But it was funny. The black and white monsters in the movie come to life and start attacking people.

There is an issue of Nightwing where he gets a shoulder injury and he has to take time off to heal. He spends his time with Barbara Gordon and watches America's Most Wanted and Unsolved Mysteries. He keeps calling them with tips. Priceless.

Spider-Man vs Wolverine comes to mind too.

    I'm sure there are more...

^Spider-Man Vs. Wolverine is another favorite.

Anyone remember the short Hercules-Wolverine story in the back of one of the Hulk Treasury editions?

I always thought that was a fun story.

I thought Stephanie was a good Batgirl, too, but I do like that Barbra' back in the costume, even though Oracle was a fantastic character, probably better than Batgirl other than for marketing reasons.

I have many favorite comics, but, for me, the one that stands out is the first comic I truly remember buying at the local drug store: The AVENGERS #4 The return of Captain America.

Just something about the cover that set this issue apart from all the other comics I saw on the stand that day way back when.

Who KNOWS what EVIL lurks in the hearts of men? The SHADOW knows!!

A few others that spring to mind:

World's Finest #271 - Roy Thomas recounts the various origins of the Superman/Batman team, and makes them all work in continuity. This is the type of continuity-heavy story Thomas excelled at. Even tied in the Superman radio show!!!

Teen Titans #14 - The darkest, most serious issue of Teen Titans, by the usual (and excellent) team of Bob Haney and Nick Cardy. The Gargoyle, an old Titans foe in a new disguise, creates suspicion amongst the team, and accuses Robin of penning crimes on him he didn't commit. He banishes all of the Titans into a limbo dimension, but Robin saves the team in the end. The Gargoyle makes one more appearances in Titans, and his true identity is never revealed until...

Secret Origins Annual #3 - Dick Grayson is trapped in his nightmares forced to relive his history as a Teen Titan, as a hooded observer berates him and tries to break his spirit. The hooded man is revealed as The Gargoyle, who in turn is revealed to be Brom Stik, aka Mr. Twister, the Titan's very first foe! George Perez weaves all of Titans' history into a tale that would have made Roy Thomas envious.

                    A few come to mind.

FF #189 "The Torch That Was!" which pits Johnny Storm against the original Human Torch. Tho it is reprinted from an earlier FF annual or something I never would have seen this story if it wasn't reprinted in the regular monthly.

Astro City (1995 1st Series) #2 "The Scoop". A reporter's encounter with the Old Soldier, the Silver Agent and the Honor Guard as told in flashback.

Doctor Who #13, (MARVEL 1984), Enter the Cyberman. Tho reprinted from doctor Who Magazine the story is in color for the first time. It's a light and humorous tale of the 4th Doctor and some junk collectors who reprogram old-model discarded Cybermen as butlers. It's the only issue I saved from the run.

Doctor Strange #55 Dr. Strange battles D'spayre in "To Have Loved...And Lost!" . Killer pencils by Michael Golden! H e makes this as real as can be.

Uncanny X-Men (1963) #166. 1st Paul Smith art. Not only do I love Paul Smith's art this was the issue where I finally broke down and started reading X-Men.

Tough question. At one point, I probably would have said Fantastic Four 285. This is the issue where the kid who idolizes Johnny Storm sets himself on fire to become like the Human Torch. It seemed poignant at the time, but as I've gotten a bit more worldly, I realize how flimsy the story truly was.

I can really only come up with two others. The Uncanny X-Men/Teen Titans crossover. This issue introduced me to the X-Men and reaquainted me with Titans. Having Simonson on art chores was a bonus. I've still got to get a copy of this, mine is long ago lost.

The other would have to be Kingdom Come 4, the final wrap-up to my favorite all-time story, comic or otherwise.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

                              JLA: Superpower

This book was a fantastic read. The story of Antaeus is the center of the story. However, the end of the book marked (what I believed to be) a huge step in the maturation process of Kyle Rayner as a super hero.

Sincerely the most poignant read of my life.
